Since my car is under the knife, I am thinking of building a competitive car ... b/c, well ... I stink at driving and need all the help I can get ... :help

I am considering getting a blanton diff ... so, would be selling the current diff in my car. Nothing wrong. It was installed in the car and put 15K on it. It originally had 38K on it. So, a total of 53K on the unit. You are more than welcome to look at it and my CF hood at Martin Motorsports ...

Car's not going anywhere ... :( It's a 3.38 LSD. MY car is a 1997. No idea of six bolt, 4 bolt, blah blah.

I want $800 for it FIRM. I've seen some sell 3.38 LSD's for $675 + shipping with 1/3 more mileage. Here, you can inspect mine and see it ...

p.s. -- someone buy my damn CF hood!!! :stickoutt ...

James, how much does a 3.23LSD usually go for? Because if i got the 3.38, I'd want to try to recoup some of that money back...

Damnit damnit damnit, I want this!

It's reall not that hard at all.

Remove the sway bar, remove the axle bolts to the diff, remove the drivetrain from the diff, and then remove the 3 bolts that hole it into the frame.

It's a 6-bolt IIRC.

that is a good price for the diff. I paid $850 + shipping for mine and had to get it shipped from somewhere out west, not knowing the condition.

the 3.38 is definitly nicer then the 3.15. I was turning high 1:29's and consistant low 1:30.00's at Summit with the 3.38 (victo's and Hawk HP+. If you do not want to shell out the $$$ for a 3.73 or 3.64, grab this from James.

I think Eric should get the 3.64/3.73 though. He is running mid-pack right now and with the right diff ... he'll be at the front challenging Dmwhite :)

He's definitely got the suspension, brake pads, and tires ... the diff would be a tremendous help I think in coming out of corners, especially like summit/Oak tree, etc.

Still debating on whether the Ohlin suspension is the way to go (IIRC -- around $4K-5K) and forego the cams ... or, go TCKR/DA for 1/2 that and put the money into cams... :dunno

Bud timed Austin and I out at Summit Point this year, on all-seasons and stock pads, both of us were turning 1:32-1:33's -- so, similar times. This was before I got the cage done.

I think I could probably do around 1:29-1:30's in my current state now (DSSR's, carbotechs, and cage) ... I need to find a way to lose that extra 200 lbs I am carrying ...

I thought you said that typical IP cars need to add weight to reach the min. limit? Why is your so heavy? What can you do to reduce weight?

Damn, 4-5K for suspension plus extra for cams  that is why I am sticking with tree dodging and cone killing for another year. :(

Not sure why I am so heavy ...? Maybe car stereo and A/C? At most, that would be like 70 lbs though ... Plus, to avoid fuel starvation, I need to run a full tank basically all the time ... Maybe I need to start scraping more sound deadening off ...

Well, I think you only really need the diff. The reason I am considering cams is basically, my entire engine is being pulled apart ... so, if I am going to do it, I might as well do it now. If I did not have to pull my engine apart, I would not consider cams at all.

My entire goal is to run mid-pack ... It appears, from the IP guys, that most people have min. diff/at least a coilover suspension/tires/brake pads. This is to run around the mid-pack region. So, I don't have a diff or suspension. Those two areas I need to attack. You don't need to go Ohlins ... or Motuns ... I would just consider it since Eric raves about the setup ... It's no fun being in the back :(

A/C, Stereo, OBD-II junk, and Cage material...

James, Motons are illegal for IP. Not sure the Ohlins really cost that much now... RRT said once they get the delopment done and parts mass produced, it would be cheaper. They had to custom make a lot of stuff for my car.

Weight wise:

Sound deadening: 40lbs
AC: 40-50 lbs
Wheels: 5-7lbs
Headunit: 5lbs
Heater core: 5lbs
your suspension prolly weighs a bit more than a coilover setup too
OBD2 stuff like Doby mentioned

Plus you have the factory stereo amps, speakers, wiring.. thats good for another 50lbs or so....

James,

If it still weighs too much, ditch the passenger seat and all associated hardware.
