J10B 08-06-2002, 11:56 AM I already asked it and noone hasa z8 that posts MACK1 08-06-2002, 12:06 PM Yeah, they are all too busy trying to pay for those bitches. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Spencer 08-14-2002, 02:52 AM Here is a pic from the old man's garage.... The reason I ask is because the light output is extremely bright, given the small area. Is it a LED? Or just a regular bulb? Distinctive 11-11-2002, 07:24 PM Every morning, I see some older Asian woman driving her Z8 to work. Top always stayed on and she never seemed to go over the 40 limit...what a waste. Those seem to be LED's but I could be wrong because If you look at the plates, they also seem bright due to the flash of the cam so that might have made the rear lights relatively brighter. ///M LIFEŠ 11-25-2002, 01:26 AM this is like the only thread on this section :D ///MDriver 11-26-2002, 03:35 PM What type of bulb is used in the brake lights? The reason I ask is because the light output is extremely bright, given the small area. Is it a LED? Or just a regular bulb? Its NEON!! Just like my third brake light on my 330. BMW uses neon gas in all three brake lights on the Z8. Spencer 12-03-2002, 02:24 PM Yes, they are neon brake lights. They look INSANE when following the car, especially at night. The front corners, and side markers are also neon. Quite a light show at night. m34ever 12-03-2002, 03:53 PM you should bring the z8 down to the meet this weekend:) Spencer 12-03-2002, 05:54 PM I'm in colorado for the next couple weeks otherwise I would. Maybe I'll get it out to a meet over the holidays. ///Milk 12-19-2002, 11:07 PM Spencer what do you do for a living? I wish they kept him around but than everyone would have to reach deeper into their wallets to own a BMW. Auraraptor 01-03-2004, 06:34 PM A good family friend of mine has one. He is trading it in 2 months for AM or a 575 (my suggestion on the 575) He prob. will go with the 5 after he drives it, as I know what he likes and that car just about has exactly what he likes. J10B 01-04-2004, 02:20 AM yeah spencer what do you do? Steve@Edge 01-04-2004, 02:26 AM Originally posted by Distinctive Aston Martin head designer Henrik Fisker put the beautiful Z8 on the map for BMW. I wish they kept him around but than everyone would have to reach deeper into their wallets to own a BMW. Most styling cues were taken from the absolutely stunning BMW 507 of the late 50's. Henrik's job was mostly done for him by the time he got to it, that's one hell of an iconic car, the 507, and not hard to steal cues from. Z8's always hold my gaze longer then most. Not necessarily Brian. The Alpina Z8 has the 4.4 V8 found in the 4.4L X5 SUV's. Plus, the Z8's with the E39 M5 motor came with a 6-spd, while the latter models have a slushbox Right, but if you notice, the Alpina is just called the "Alpina," not the Z8 Alpina. So technically, the Z8 only really came with the E39 M5's powerplant. The Alpina version did suffer with the bored and stroked 4.4, it turned a car that is already criticized for being soft (the Z8 is deffinetely a Grand Touring car over an out and out sports car) into something VERY soft. Still a stunning car though. Steve StouffvilleZ3 01-08-2004, 01:09 PM I'd take one... you know if it was given to me.... I actually had some hick kid say that to me about my Z3. He told me he'd prefer a car with some "real" horsepower like a Camaro. Dumbass- Transporter_E38 01-18-2004, 09:41 PM those dirty white trash red-neck bastards dont deserve do say anything about our cars, none of them can drive stick because all they want is a slushbox they can mate up to their goddman huge displacement v-8. they couldnt tell you what the "apex" of a turn is, or maybe when your supposed to downshift. for all i care they can take their trucker hats, oxi-contin habits, sister/mom/cousin/daughter/aunt/girlfriend and go back to the shitty trailer deep in the pits of hell where they came from. i know i sound like a snob, but goddmanit our cars are so nice we deserve to be snobs, screw anyone who hates on us, we'll buy them and sell them into slavery! Not trying to be argumentative, but I was kind of hoping your first post was tongue in cheak. Feeling that you are elevated above others based on how much you or your parents have made monitarily is foolish. Steve Transporter_E38 01-19-2004, 02:09 PM how much my parents have made monitarily? that might be the way it worked for you big guy, but all the money for my car came from my bank account, which was full of my money, from working my job. and its "tongue AND cheek" and im not pointing at our cars being better because they are luxurious, ours are better because we can carry speed in something other than a straight line, and this is coming from someone who grew up with a father who owned a business restoring and tuning muscle cars. simply put, BMW's are better engineered than any american car to date, plain and simple. get off your high horse and back down on the level with the rest of us smart guy. You're making this harder then it has to be. Notice I gave you the choice between "you making" OR "your parents making" simply because of the demographics on this forum. There was a VERY good chance that you still live at home or at least COME home for the summers and therefor would still equate your worth with whatever your parents make. Please accept my apology if that's not the case. Honestly. And I would take exception to that "BMW's are better engineered" comment... I still think one of the most underrated sports cars in the world is the Corvette C5, which has a host of features that make it unique in the automotive world. Aluminum/balsa composite frame, amazing motor (LS6 is just the shit), and a bunch of other neat goodies that make it a FORMIDABLE car. BMW engineering is good and all, but I know a lot of stuff falls off my car. Its a bit overrated, I think, to equate supreme quality with bimmer stuff. I know for a fact BMW cut corners on the E36 model, and a lot of their mechanical reasoning seems backwards at times. Don't know where I was going with that... ok, write something back real angry. xxoo Steve JustaWanderer 01-19-2004, 07:05 PM Props to you Steve, keeping your head and making Stu look like an idiot... which I'm assuming is an accurate illustration of the ruth, beyond an online forum. Anyways, just wanted to chime in and give some support, heh... and as far as everything else is concerned, I agree completely with you Steve. Transporter_E38 01-19-2004, 08:45 PM props and apologies to you steve, i stand corrected. sorry, i'll keep it down with the opinionated rants from now on. I still can't believe it sometimes. You understand what I mean when you see it or own one... JSN 02-03-2004, 07:40 AM the Z8 is definitely an amazing car, but for the money a GT3 or equivalent always seems better Transporter_E38 02-03-2004, 04:33 PM it may seem so, but your not buying a Z8 for the track, your buying it for the street. and id take a Z8 over just about any other roadster out there. When I attended, there was a father/son there that split the cost of the car and jointly owned it. If thats you, small world. M Roady 02-13-2004, 05:41 PM Z8 owners are in a very small world. djrandin 03-12-2004, 05:50 AM funny how the only real z8 thread in here turned into a sausage flame fest.... gawd, some of you guys are so immmature, i just wanna hear about some cool z8s. i saw a silver one in la jolla like 2 yrs ago, i thought it was a porsche at first ( i didnt know shit about cars then) and i was like oh mom look!!! a por.... then i saw the bmw badge and was like what the hell is that car? so i went home and looked it up and have been awestruck ever since. yup.
