I have set-up a dyno run at a facility in No. Md. I have been trying to schedule something for the past month or so; but, Marken's been busy. This is NOT just limited to BMW's. I am bringing my SC400 there to have it dynoed as well - so, if you have other vehicles you would want dynoed, we can do that as well. I would just need to give him a list of WHO is coming and what cars are coming.

As far as price, I "might" be able to talk him down a little - but, I think he's being pretty fair about things. It's going to cost minimum of at least $35 it seems... I am trying to find out more information about the dyno run - but, if the weather holds true - we shouldn't have to worry too much about heat soak or humidity affecting the numbers.

I am not sure how many cars we want to have involved in this either. So, perhaps we want to put a CAP on how many cars would be allowed to participate. I am going to try to waive the hookup fee if possible....if we get enough cars...or if we only have a certain number of cars...

Do you think we need more time??? This will be setup for a SATURDAY run when a majority of people can do it, I am thinking the second weekend in September.... or perhaps the third weekend in September.

As an aside, I am not affiliated with SRT...but, they do make pretty good products for the Lexus...besides Rod Millen...Let me know guys if you are interested. I am doing a dyno run no matter what.....

PLEASE...DO NOT say you are "in" if you are NOT going to be there...

Like I said, sometime probably in September after Labor Day on a weekend.

So, I need to know HOW many cars are interested, if we should put a cap on the number of people participating. From what I understand it IS air-conditioned...etc....

This shop primarily works on GS300, GS400, IS300's, etc. So, they are not just a "tuner" shop. They are similar to BMW tuners, because they specialize in more luxury-classed vehicles. So, I don't think you have to worry about them blowing your car up, hooking it up wrong, etc...

I approached them because I think it's good exposure for them. Many BMW owners, such as I, have different vehicles, such as Lexus etc...and love to tune those vehicles as well...so it's a good way for them to get their name out there...because, most of us have friends that own Lexus...etc...and if we have a good run there, most likely we will recommend them to Lexus owners... that was my sales pitch to them.......

So, I am not affiliated with them and receive no benefit....I get the same thing as y'all would receive.

James:

Here's the info. $300 for 4 hours of time. $420 for 6 hours plus an
additional $10 hookup fee per car. We'll allow you to run as many cars
during your selected time frame of 4 or 6 hours.

Keep me posted.

Thanks.

Would September work for most of you? I was thinking AFTER LABOR DAY weekend perhaps the Sept. 7th or Sept. 14.

Also, do you think there should be a limit on the number of cars participating?

How many pulls do you think we can accomplish in 4 or 6 hours..

Plus, we could all detail our cars there while waiting . . . might be a good meet.

I would try for August 24, but, we would need to about 6-7 people rather quickly. Plus, we need to give him 3 weekends and allow him to pick one of them.

So, right now:

August 24th
Sept. 7th
Sept. 14th

Basically, all of September would be fine for me, since that is far enough in advance. Although, what weddings do I need to goto? What's more important...dyno run or wedding.....haha.

Just to give you an ideal, if we do 6 CARS max for the four hour slot, that will mean $300 PLUS $60, which is...math majors = $360 divided by 6 is $60 a person. But, I am pretty sure we can do more than 6 cars in four hours...correct me if I am wrong...

So, the more people basically, the less moula it will cost us....
So, if your friends have audi's, porsche's, etc..that want a dyno pull...let them know. Let's try to shoot for a complete list by the 16th. Let's try to decide a date by next tuesday the 12th, this should give peeps enough time to look at their calendars.

I'm good for the 7th of Sept. I'm going to the "Curry Clash" on the 14th so that days a no-go for me.

I'm not even sure how long it takes to do a dyno run. I've never done one before. I'm interested in seeing what my car will put down.

jderry - this the same place that had the membership offer you told me about?

Damn, Sept 7 is the Import Xpresssion car show at the DC Armory!

What about September 21st or September 28th then? I completely forgot about Curry's clash and Import Xpressions.

The weather should be fairly cool and low humidity, but since the dyno is indoors, doesn't really make a difference.

I am game for the last two weekends in September, should be good weather...gives me a chance to detail the car while waiting...etc..

Nope- the membership was another place. I've been talking to Marken for about 6-7 months now? They are looking to create a S/C for the SC400. My vehicle is going to be the prototype, hopefully if the DYNO numbers turn out decently....which I estimate should be around the 180-190 RWHP range. Lexus has very inefficient drivetrains, e.g., why they are so damn quiet.

But the SC300 is easier to modify because you can drop the 2JZ-GTE engine in it, direct bolt-in, and then you have a twin-turbo, or single ball-bearing T78 putting down about 450 RWHP in a luxury car.

The SC400 - cannot do that...no way, no how....the best they've done with this car is the intake and RMM exhaust, for about $2K you get MAYBE 5-10 RWHP...MAX...and people bitch about the Shrick Cam setup...hehe...be happy you have dedicated tuners..

www.swiftracing.com is their website if you want to see what they do.

You're gonna kill me, but Battle of the Imports is the final weekend of September. That's when we hope to track both our cars. Right now, Sept 21 seems to work best for me, but don't make plans around me. Majority should rule.

BTW, what type of dyno machine?
