Which one wound you take dinan our AA works?

Depends what's important to you.

Powerwise and pricewise, obviously AA. No discussion there.
If the fringe benefits of Dinan are important to you (convenience,
possibly realiability in the long-run, warranty, etc.) then Dinan.

I love Dinan, but if I had $10K to spend on a supercharger, it would be AA.

Warranty on any parts you get from them... their warranty does not extend to BMW parts that are affected by the installation of the blower (but then again, I don't think DINAN's does either).

This is a heatedly debated subject. Dinan offers to cover and fill in
where the BMW warranty ends, so technically your factory warranty is no longer valid
as far as the engine goes.

Whether Dinan will cover you or not, that's something you need to decide.
There are cases where Dinan has refused coverage. But it's hard to draw definite conclusions from that...

My gut feeling is that since Dinan's marketing is mostly based on the warranty
they offer, it would be somewhat suicidal of them to deny their warrany coverage on principle. They would be out of business in no time...

I am under the impression from what I have read and people who have dealt with DINAN. The only advantage is if a DINAN part breaks, you can take it to an BMW dealership and they will work with DINAN to replace the part (DINAN still reserves the right to void any warranty coverages based on use).

If you install a DINAN supercharger and you blow your motor... I do not think it is covered, ask the E36 guys about that. Friend of mine blew his motor with the DINAN supercharger and DINAN replaced the supercharger and all parts associated it, but he was left with the bill to repair/replace the motor.

Now... the gray area would be if the supercharger propellers should shatter which in turn get injested into the engine causing it to blow, then I would believe DINAN may cover your engine, but if you engine dies from something else... you are SOL.

Edit: Oh... and DINAN is not covered by BMW warranty, it still voids the BMW warranty. The only thing is, BMW dealerships (only certain select ones) have the paperwork to send to DINAN to get reimbursed for the repairs (after authorization).

The whole idea of it even being "debated" is kind of shady to me.
I would want something in writing saying that if I spend 75% more money for less horsepower and my motor goes pop, for anything short of someone putting sugar in my gas tank, then I would like it replaced. I wouldn't want to be the guy finding out I just spent 20k on a package deal, and the tune was a little lean, and now I'm screwed out of a motor.

That's why I if I were ever to do this, I would ask Dinan for a copy of their warranty
and go over it with a magnifying glass. And run it by a couple of lawyers for good measure. ;)

It seems as they throw in the all to familiar "We reserve the right to void warranty under any condition," bs. Which is there way of saying, if we don't feel like fixing it, we don't have to.

Yep I understood the whole "transfer" of the warranty idea.
The rest is great info, your just a BMW gold mind aren't you. ;)

This was my determining factor...

something goes wrong with Dinan...I drop the car off on my way to work and take one of my other vehicles for the week.

If something goes wrong with a mail-order company such as AA.....i gotta make an appt to have things uninstalled and shipped back to AA???

What a pain in the ass!!! and whats to say they will be able to cure the problem.

This is very very true... provided the dealership is a DINAN authorized dealership. I'm not sure what happens if the dealer does not work with DINAN.

well...obviously you can only get Dinan products through an authorized dealer.....
and only an authorized dealer can install the products.

you cant even just order products through a dealer who isnt authorized.


so we are clearly speaking about the dealer that we would deal with.


there are 4 BMW dealerships on long island.....and 1 of them is Dinan authorized...and they are only 15 minutes from my home.....

I hope no one on here thinks they can have these products installed by ANY dealer....cause thats not the case.
