Does anyone know? It seems like everytime I wash my car I get these ugly water spots. What am I doing wrong?

wash the car in the shade and put a fresh coat of wax on there

Wash the car in the shade, and dry the car thoroughly after washing.

I always wash it in the shade though. Could it be that I'm using too much soap and I'm not diluting it with enough water?

How are you drying it?

Some areas of the country have very hard water with high mineral deposits, like the panhandle of Texas.

Actualy if you are washing and drying properly, it is pre-existing watersports that don't necessarily show in when dry.

I'd suggest getting a good polish, and claybar + polish + wash. That's your cure.

And of course keep proper washing techniques afterwards.

Be sure that you don't allow any part of the car to dry while you are washing other sections or it will leave deposits. I wash top to bottom and each section I do, I make sure to spray every section to keep it wet until I'm done and I can dry. Some towels will spread water around too much to allow it to evaporate rather than pulling the water off of the surface. This can leave water spots behind. Use a good microfiber towel with a large enough surface that you won't have to wring it out constantly.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to wash my car again tomorrow, hopefully I'll get better results this time. Man, sometimes it's a pain having a black car.

On the other hand after I got out all my water spots/ oxidation/ grime the car felt like it couldnt be touched. And now all I hear is ..."holy Shi$ all I saw from like a mile away was a really bright black thing coming at me."

Then I new my job was complete.
