I upgraded my comp a year ago after my HD melted, and now I have all this stuff lying around collecting dust. I have been coerced into getting rid of it, but I didn't want to throw it away, and I don't enjoy ebay, so I'm offering it here to a loving home. You are basically getting this stuff almost for free, so please don't complain if something doesn't work, eh? :)

But I'm pretty certain they all work, but I couldn't really test them after my HD melted.

All I ask in return is a *donation* of a 6-pack of Heinekin or 4-pack of Guinnes Draught.

Sorry, I don't want to parcel these out one piece at a time, take 'em all if interested. And hey if you decide later you don't want 'em, use them for target practice or a new toy for your neighbor's cat. :devillook

By no means are these cutting edge by today's standards. But if you're just building a simple PC for your garage ETK/TIS or whatever, this should be more than adequate.

Motherboard:
Shuttle AV49N
Socket 478
400/533 MHz FSB
VIA P4X400 chipset

CPU:
P4 2.66 GHz
533 MHz bus, 512KB L2 cache, Socket 478

Memory:
Crucial 512 MB DDR
333 MHz, CL 2.5

Power supply:
Starlogic (CompUSA generic brand)
300 watt ATX power supply w/ blue LED fan

DVD-ROM:
Generic DVD-ROM drive

GPU (video card):
nVidia GeForce FX5600 Ultra by BFG tech
AGP 8x (compatible w/ 4x and 2x)
128 MB DDR, 800MHz
400Mhz core clock

PM me if interested.

EDIT
I'm including a tube of Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste with the CPU. You'll have to scrape off all the old thermal tape from the CPU and its fan. There are instructions for this at http://www.arcticsilver.com/as5.htm
This is also a freebie and is included in the deal.

This is slightly off topic... but you mentioned beer.

Just for the sake of it, we should grab one or two six packs and talk cars or something. If you have time coming up, I rarely see you so I know you are pretty busy.

Oh, by the way, I washed my car tonight. Yep, thats why it rained. :(

I guess that's why I don't wash my car! Every time after I do it, it gets rained or shit on. It's been 4 weeks now and my rims are almost black :-( Poor little car.

yeah i haven't been doing much driveway drinking lately. mother in law is back in kona until next week so i haven't had much of a need for bourbon. :embarrasm she's a nice lady, just TOO nice, and sometimes i feel suffocated.

i'll be working on my bike in the coming weeks (as soon as my stupid parts come in, backordered). that could be a good time to hang out & talk shop. i'll post something a couple of days before i start (it'll be a weekend) and if you're interested, we can hang out in the garage. i always have booze in some form or other in the house :)

btw your car always looks clean. i've put off washing so long because every night they say there's a good chance of rain the next day. :mad

Ok you computer geeks, wtf is wrong with my Dell Precision. I hear a flicking coming from it and it wont boot up. It says F1 retry or reboot. Comp was running along with programs and then the clicking started. :mad

i think the answer lies hidden somewhere in the question. :D

does the clicking sound almost like rice krispies?
clicking is a hardware problem. my old hd did that exact sound for about a week before it finally melted down.

I'll have too much crap in my car to load up that huge comp.

Bob - I fear it is the HD, and of course, I didn't back up files. :mad No warning, no nothing. Just click click click out of the blue.

click click click means the hard drive is dead dead dead. I speak from experience.

If you need the data a recovery service can retrieve it for you but its not cheap to do .

Fukk! That's the one that has the CCH stuff stored on it.

The click click click usually does mean a HDD that is dying/dead. There are ways and ways of getting the info off though. Even if the comp won't boot off the drive, that doesn't mean the OS can't retrieve the data, if you have the right programs and some patience.

I just had a hard drive melt on me as well. That is the exact thing that happened worked fine one day and then nothing but click click click the next. You need to get it to a computer shop ASAP as the longer you wait the less likely they will be able to retrive your data. I sent mine the next day but there was a month backlog at the repair place and they were unable to recover any data. Good Luck.

I know a guy in Wahiawa who can extract data from hard drives. His shop is at the beginning of Wilikina Dr. near the Camoflage shop. Pretty reasonable prices too.

It won't keep working for long, copy off any data you need ASAP while it is working. It's called the click of death..... Have fun at the track tomorrow!
