I know this question has come up before, but I couldn't find a definitive answer during my searching.
How do you trick the computer into thinking that there is a passenger in the seat so the SRS light won't come on and the airbag will work?
Here are the options I have found so far:
1. Buy a replacement mat sensor from BMW and plug the unit in and install it into new seats. Option that I've heard is a guaranteed fix.
2. Still not sure on this, but buy the oem sensor, plug it in and just leave it w/o putting it into the actual seat i.e. hide it away under the seat. I'm not sure if this will work though because the sensor is supposed to detect a passengers weight.
3. Make a reistor that plugs into the factory unit and trick the computer into thinking there's a passenger there all the time. This I however have found nothing on, but I read Jim Powell's article for the e36. Not sure if this works.
Anyone else have any idea? Or know what I need to do? I would really rather avoid cutting into my seat to install this mat sensor.
Thanks!
Chris
