View Full Version : X5 just blinks lights...no start.

Greetings!

Mrs SpicySushi decided to replace the Explorer with a CPO'ed X5 as the "utility" vehicle. Today it decided not to start. It did flash all the internal lights (buttons...console) however and made some wonderful clicking noises. I don't think it's the battery; radio and accessories work just fine.
Any thoughts? Tow Truck on the Way :)

I had the ame problem once. Pissed me off until BMW said they will cover it under the CPO. Goodluck! I hope the tow truck was nice enough to drop it off to them 1st thing in the am.

That'll be $100 for diagnosis since you got a battery from somewhere else.

I am having the same problem with mine right now but if I hold the key in the start position it will start eventually sometimes takes 2 seconds sometimes 10. Was it the battery for you spicy?

Is that the only place that you can get a battery? I've looked on the net and haven't found one yet. Not much of a stealership fan, more of a do-it-yourself-er

BME carries interstate batteries that fit BMW's cheaper than the dealership.

Believe it or not Costco's batteries might not be the best but they'll replace free of charge if it fails within the warranty period, no pro rating. They also carry Optima batteries, good stuff.
Haven't tried the warranty out yet but was told this by Tim of Knightwerks.

ditto Costco for Optima red top. that should turn your 7's crank no problem, what gives?

That iDrive is power hungry?

All the CPUs booting up must deplete power to the starter...

Wow you're expensive. We charge $95 an hour and only .5 hours for electrical diagnosis. So 47.50 please, plus $10 for shop supplies and haz mat.

Both batteries fall short of recommended cranking power.
Don't want the electrical gremlins showing up.
