I have been waxing my cars every three months and the regiment has been:

Wash, dry, clay, P21S glaze, P21S wax

It takes a while and with four cars and a one year old baby time is more limited so I wanted to use products that last longer which = less details sessions per year. I am looking at Zaino and my questions are:

Can the P21S glaze be used prior to Zaino instead of, or before the Zaino polish lock?

Will using P21S wax after the Zaino help with a better and deeper shine?

Is there a long lasting product out there that is recommended over Zaino?
Thanks for the advice!

I'm not sure what the P21S glaze is (paitwork cleaner maybe?). I thought that a glaze generally contained oils to hide the swirls, etc. If it is just a cleaner, then you would use that before the Zaino. I don't think you would want to have oil on the finish before applying Zaino.

Anyway, from what I've read, the Z polish lok is required to bind the Z2 to the paint unless you use the ZFX accelerator.

The P21S wax would probably make a nice topper for the Zaino. I don't know if you can layer Z2 over the carnuba, though. You might have to strip it all off to apply more Zaino.

You might consider Klasse AIO and SG instead of Zaino. Each have their strong points and weaknesses.

Instead of waxing you should invest into Sealants. The wax you're using does not last any longer than 4-6 weeks. During harsh weather, even less than that, so the 3 month intervals are mute in that aspect.

With a sealant, you will only need to reapply it once every 6 months, and it is a lot more weather resistant. Pick up a bottle of 4* UPP (Ultimate Paint Protection) and you'll be all set.

You are right, it isn't the glaze is the cleaner. Is Klasse a better product? What is UPP?

Klasse is a good paint cleaner, and is stronger than P21S Paintwork Cleanser.

UPP is a Sealant. Sealant is pretty much the same thing as a Wax, except it's synthetic, which is why it lasts longer. A wax job looks wetter and deeper, but a sealant lasts MUCH MUCH longer. UPP is the best sealant out there right now, and the finish looks identical to a wax, to the everyday untrained eye.

I've never used UPP, either. I have used Klasse AIO and SG. The Klasse products are indeed sealants as are the Zaino products. I guess I'd have to disagree that the Four Star UPP is the best of the paint sealants from what I've read.

Most people tend to fall into either the Klasse or Zaino camps. The Zaino crowd seems to use the Z products exclusively, while the Klasse group tends to use other products as well. Either will give you an amazing shine and long lasting protection. Six months is not unusual.

I actually put AIO on my car about a year ago followed by six layers of SG over a couple of months. I've topped the SG with S100 and now use Optimum Car Wax as a topper. Anyway, the finish is still nice and shiny, but I plan to clay, polish, and put more AIO and SG on the car before winter.

The only downside to the sealants is they tend to make the car look like they're covered in plastic wrap. That's why people use a carnuba wax over the sealants. It makes the finish look less "plasticy".

I've used zaino, klasse, poorboys ex-p, and a ton of carnaubas. My favorite sealant is by far poorboys ex-p. It should last about 4-5 months vs, zaino or klasse's 6 months or so. THe difference to me is the ease of application. Zaino is just a pita because of everything you have to do. Ex-p is by far the easiest to apply. Just appy a bit to a finishing pad on your pc or a foam/mf applicator and apply it evenly. Wait 30 minutes if in shade or 5 minutes if in sun then just WIPE off. I emphasize wipe because it literally wipes off effortlessly; no buffing necessary. My favorite "topper" for ex-p is S100 carnauba wax (aka p21s) for lighter color cars and poorboys natty's blue for darker cars.

Where can I get UPP or Klasse - I checked the Autogeek.com website but I could not find an on-line catlog. How does putting a carnuba wax over a sealant work? Will the carnuba bond with the sealant or the paint and how often should you re-up with carnuba for a brilliant shine? I am sure you guys have been asked these quesions a zillion times and but I appreciate the help!

UPP is in the Autogeek categories under Sealant (its true name is 4-Star Ultimate Paint Protection)..the whole site is an online catalog: www.autogeek.net

As for sealants, I agree with Eric, I thought UPP was incredible until I started using Ex-P...I didnt top it with anything on an Imola X5 4.6 I detailed and the paint looked honestly as if it had just been sprayed on..

For a novice detailer such as my self, my general steps are...

wash: Gold Class
dry: Microfiber
clay: Mothers
wash: Gold Class
wax: Pinacle

No other products used.

Now I have a black cosmos M and I think the car could shine even more than it does now.

my qustion being would a sealant be the best for my particular needs?

And what are the Best and most effective steps used to apply?

Once you top the SG with carnuba, can you apply SG again or does everything have to be stripped? Can you layer carnuba over Zaino?

SG will not bond to carnuba. So once you apply a carnuba topper, you cannot apply another layer of SG without stripping off the wax. I assume Zaino is the same.

If you want carnuba over SG, the best is approach is to apply all of the layers of SG you want before you top it. You probably want at least 3 layers to assure coverage and protection. You may also want additional layers for appearance. One idea is to layer the SG until you feel the last layer did not improve the look. Then apply the carnuba.

I clayed and polished my car today. I also put on the AIO and one layer of SG. I add another layer of SG tomorrow and additional layers each week after I wash the car. I plan to use Optimum Car Wax as a topper this winter. Whenever I get a chance to wash the car this winter, I'll add some OCW.
