does anyone know where i can get a higher octane in the sacramento area?

I have no idea. Here in stockton off charter way we have 100 octane and 76.

would 100 octane be okay to run in my car or will it screw something up?

umm on watt and marconi by the bowling alley is a 76 that has 100 octane. $6/gallon though. I put in 7 gallons of that and then 2 regular on an empty tank and it felt so nice

if you car isnt tuned to run 100 octane gas, then you're probably going to get less performance. higher octane is just more resistant to detonation, unless you're running a high boost supercharger thats tuned for high octane, you're just wasting money on already expensive gas.

but you won't be knocking at redline on a 110 degree day in sacramento......worth it? If you are heading to sac raceway it would be interesting to fill up on some 100 or a blend of 100 and 91 to see if there is a gain vs. plain 91.

unless you have software tuned for 100 octane, or have boost, you wont get anything from 100 octane.

if your software is tuned for 91, you will actually lose power with 100. i know my car felt a lot slower with 100 versus 91 at the track. note, i still have stock software tuned for 91.

and even on a 110 degree day, you shouldnt be detonating if your car is properly tuned.

the car's software can advance the timing up to 95 octane, or so I hear

well i am planning on going out to sac raceway.... i know my car isnt a drag car blah blah blah... but hell that shit looks fun. just tryna see what i can do to pull better times. thanks for all the replies... maybe ill run it with 91 now and 100 next time? any way i should prepare for the drag strip?

You will only need a few gallons of 100 octane to a full tank of 91 to get the octane up to 93 or so. Above that its all a waste.

i only plan to go to the track with about 7 gallons of gas in the tank .... so what do i do?
