Checking out craigslist to find a place. My job is here: 50 First Street, Suite 509, 94105 (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=50+First+Street,+Suite+509,+94105&spn=0.024132,0.031352&hl=en)

any recommendations on where to live? or just recommendations in general. All I have is my car, 2 bicycles, and clothes to move.

ooh tough one! Your job is in downtown SF. I would think finding decent housing in the city will be difficult, check craigslist. Housing is very expensive throughout the bay area.

Having said that, living in the city would be awesome if you're the party type and are able to find something, otherwise get ready for a hellish morning commute.

expect to pay 200 or more to park your car at your residence.

my gf lives in the richmond district, where it's a PITA to find parking. she usually just finds a spot and parks there for a week, until street sweeping comes. she takes muni (bus) to school. that might work for you.

or you might also try living outside of sf. like ljse34 said, living any where in the bay area is going to be expensive.

Your office will be near the intersection of First and Market Street.

Convenient access via Muni Metro (runs underground along Market Street and out to the residential areas). This opens up a lot of areas for you in the Sunset / Ingleside / Forest Hill areas. Sunset district has the most available on-street and offstreet parking. You didn't mention what your rent affordability is, but my preference would be (a) Forest Hill (although rentals are scarce), (b) inner Sunset along Taravel (c) outer sunset along Taravel, (d) along Judah street. A, B and C are accessible via the L Taravel. D is accessed by the N Judah.

Have to be a bit more selective along the K Ingleside and M Ocean View lines. The apartments out by SF State come to mind.

The Richmond District, as mentioned above, is also heavy residential. Mainly duplex flats with tandem parking. I’d look for the corner four-plex cause those usually have individual garages for each unit. Access to downtown is very easy via Muni express busses (1, 31 and 38).

Of course, you also have closer choices along these lines (Castro District / Inner Mission District / Cole Valley / Parnassus Heights). Parking WILL be more difficult in these areas.

Then, there is the whole south of market area - loft style living. Pretty expensive and parking is scarce.

SOMA is not what i'd suggest. average loft goes for around 2-3 grand a month.

but what sfhondapilot said, besides soma, is good.
