View Full Version : FS: Set of SSR Competition 17x8.5" w/ Toyo T1-S tires
NicolasW 07-29-2002, 10:27 PM Hey all -
Just seeing if anyone may be interested in my 17x8.5" SSR Competition wheels with 235/40-17 Toyo T1-S tires. Price would be $1250 from the Washington DC area + shipping of course. They would be coming off my 1995 E36 M3.
The rear tires have about 1/2 tread left and the fronts have about 2/3 of the tread left. The wheels are perfect with no scratches and would come with BMW center caps.
Please e-mail me if you might be interested. No pics yet, I may be able to take them within a couple days.
Thanks,
Wes

Shockwave 07-29-2002, 11:29 PM I'll trade you some virtually brand new 17x8 OZ Superleggeras...also light (16lbs each), and also grey in finish. These have a 1,000 mile old set of 235 40ZR 17 Yoko AVSi's.....the set is only a few months old and from the Tire Rack.
Preppy 07-30-2002, 01:57 AM You've got PM Nicholas :D
Droptop///m 07-30-2002, 02:24 AM Would you be willing to sell just the rims?
NicolasW 07-30-2002, 06:46 AM Sorry, not interested in trades...I have another set of wheels I'm putting on.
I would be willing to sell just the rims but would sell them for about $1150 because I would have to pay to have the tires taken off and the other wheels I have can't use those tires so I would be junking a perfectly good set of tires.
Either way you look at it, $1250 for SSR comps and Toyo T1-S tires is a steal.
Thanks,
Wes

Dinanify 07-30-2002, 01:56 PM I've gotta know (since i own SSR comps as well), what wheels are you going to that you're selling the SSR's?
NicolasW 07-30-2002, 01:59 PM I'm probably going to buy some Forgelines or Fikse wheels.....a bit heavier but I like the looks a bit better.

frayed 07-30-2002, 02:14 PM Yeah, I think Fikse and Forgeline look better as well, but the SSR's have grown on me. Whoever picks these up is getting a great wheel at a great price.
FYI, the Tire Rack has built a new centercap for the Comps. Lower profile and w/ or w/o the bmw Roundel.
Dinanify 07-30-2002, 03:21 PM Hey Jeff, I just called TireRack just now (spoke to Henry), and they said they only had one center-cap (just the one that came with it). I asked him if there was a chance that maybe they had changed it and it didn't show up in the computer, he said no...
I'm interested. I have the centercaps, but they are kind of big. I would love to find a lower profile one, or even a flush one (flush with the wheel, even anthrocite in color as well).
Suggestions?
NicolasW 07-30-2002, 03:24 PM The only center caps I have are the ones shown in my first post (above) but instead of "SSR" they have a BMW roundel. They are just as you described...."kind of big."

frayed 07-30-2002, 05:05 PM Yes, you need to talk with Jim at the Tire Rack. . . he's in the know and one of the main guys there. The cap has indeed been redesigned.
Call him at ext 364.
I'm not sure if the new caps will retrofit with existing SSR Comps, however. There may have been a modification of the centering ring on later Comps.
DSK M3/4 07-30-2002, 06:50 PM nice wheels!
NicolasW 07-31-2002, 06:59 AM I lowered my price to $1150 + shipping. If the buyer lives in the northeast, we can set up a pick-up/drop-off point so you can save on shipping.
Thanks,
Wes

dsk, do you use these as street wheels? if so, have you had any trouble with bending them? i know the comps are soft and some people are having trouble keeping them straight. thanks.
NicolasW 07-31-2002, 09:55 AM Everyone -
As of right now the wheels are sold....but I will re-post if the deal falls through.
The wheels are perfectly straight as far as I can tell (visually and by feel on the car). They have been used as street wheels only.
Thanks,
Wes
