Anyone have any tricks/tools they use to clean their DS2's? I have a hell of a time getting between the spokes at the outside of the wheel...

Lets hear em....

midgets. ;)

But seriously, I use a standard terry cotton cloth that I fold around the corner, then push through each of the spokes.

I purchased a soft bristle brush with a handle from Wal-Mart which I use with the remainder of my car wash soap after having washed the entire car. It works quite well and gets the majority of the brake dust and road grime off the rims and out from between the spokes and lug bolt areas.

My car is a daily driver so I don't obsess about having every nook and crany of my DSIIs immaculate. This method is a good compromise between having the rims perfectly clean and getting them cleaned quickly with little effort.

this is how i clean all my wheels. i use meguiars hot wheels spray cleaner. it comes in a hot pink/purple bottle. just wet wheels with water, spray the wheel cleaner, take a brush with long handle and scrub the wheel. then rinse off wheel with water. repeat if necessary.

I use those little foam pads on a stick that painters use for edging. The pad is about an inch long and fits nicely into the top of the spokes. I spray cleaner, let it soak for a minute, dip foam paint brush in water and stick it up there. Wiggle it around and all the grime comes out. Does a great job. The foam paint brushes cost 59 cents at home depot and are good for about 2 washings (8 wheels).

I used a foam paint brush when I was still running them. 10 for $1 at your local crafts store.

It makes pretty quick work out of cleaning the wheels. About 3 mins a wheel. My silver M3 looks exactly as yours save my M3 spoiler.

Doublesided toothbrush looking thing would work.

And you should always wash your wheels/tires first. Lot's of very corrosive brake dust and possible metal particles there that can attack your paint. Clean the wheels first, then a good rinse and start washing from the top down.....

:confused You make a new bucket of car wash soap in between the wheels and paint... right? Otherwise I would think corrosive brake dust would be a good reason to wash the wheels AFTER the paint.
