I'll check for you.
James@EurosportDesign 09-06-2005, 02:02 PM Are top adjustable rears available for E36?
The fronts are top adjustable, the rears need to be adjusted prior to installation.
43rdWorld 09-06-2005, 03:14 PM Can I assume these will also fit the 323is? Do you have the springs available?
James@EurosportDesign 09-06-2005, 03:21 PM Can I assume these will also fit the 323is? Do you have the springs available?
Our Koni application guide doesn't list the E36 323, but I don't see a reason why they wouldn't fit. We carry springs but this group buy is for only the Koni shocks.
I though the rears were adjustable on top of the towers too, you just had to push the carpet over to be able to adjust them?
rdbwong 09-06-2005, 03:51 PM Could use some new shocks/struts so count me in.

No, the rears are not externally adjustable. You need to adjust them before installation.

The fronts are in stock, the rears are on back order. If we get a delivery date on the rears I'll let you know.

In all honesty, am a little turned off by the fact that you cannot adjust the rears once installed, I was under the impression that you could adjust them just like the front but acces to the rear strut towers is harder...

I guess what am trying to say is that if I later on get H&R springs from you guys, will you be willing to give me a good deal on the springs since I would have bought shocks from ya?
Red Herring 09-07-2005, 03:05 AM yeah too bad they're not adjustable in the back and that the price isn't that of the last group buy, $499 shipped on the first page of the old thread...I'll have to think about this one for a second

We can give you a small discount but not a group buy discount. If order for us to be able to give customers a discount we have to purchase in bulk from our distributor, we simply pass on the discount to our customers.

Koni-NA doesn't stock an externally adjustable rear shock for the E36. The old group buy was before Koni raised there pricing. If your in the market for Koni's this group buy is an excellent price. You will never again see pricing close to the old group buy.

I believe you are confusing the TCKline Koni shocks which are exclusive to TCKline. These rear shocks are adjustable on the bottom and not the top. Thus, you don't have to mess with the carpet to adjust them. Just reach around behind the wheel. Of course, these shocks come at a premium when compared to what is shown in this group buy. The same fronts and the TCKline Koni rears plus the new shock mounts are $803. With roughly $100 for the shock mounts, we are talking about $130-$150 difference in price for the 4 shocks.
Also, these shocks are adjustable for rebound only. I'm not sure if I also want adjustment for compression.
Ground control offers a Koni that is adjustable from the top of the rear shock. They are available in that configuration.
oraph 09-07-2005, 04:54 PM i take is the shocks are just inserts, so we have to still drill our stock struts and use them.
if so.. there is a guy selling the same thing on ebay for $545 shipped... this doesnt seem like much of a deal.
M3Armand 09-07-2005, 05:35 PM there is a guy selling the same thing on ebay for $545 shipped... this doesnt seem like much of a deal.
Bummer...the item below is being sold in ebay for $539 shipped + $5 insurance. I guess this GB is done for this item. :(
$539
E36 M3 (95-99) [ALL]:
Front: 8641-1342 sport
Rear: 8240-1115 sport
But the fronts need to have some work done to get them installed. The rears need to be disassembled to be adjusted. I'm still considering TCKline's for external adjustment. But TCKline's is $378 for the rear pairs alone plus shipping...
The instructions in www.koni-na.com state that you need to compress the rear shocks and then turn them in order to make the adjustment. Question is, how easy is it to compress the shock? I understand that the spring is not in play here...
43rdWorld 09-07-2005, 06:00 PM Years ago, I had Koni's on a Boss 302 and then on a Saab 900 Turbo. Both had to have the shock compressed to adjust. It wasn't a big deal on either - not as easy as a top-side adjustment, but not too bad - jacked up the car, popped the shock, compressd it and gave it a twist. The Mustang was amusing because I had never done shocks before and accidentally adjusted them to full hard - it was a bit tougher to compress - talk about a bumpy ride!
So are the rear koni adjustables on this group buy adjustable from behind the rear wheels?
Also, I know that Koni offers lifetime warranty on there street shocks will we have to go through you or Koni in case something goes wrong?
KONI's shocks are built to last a lifetime. Once you have bought a set of KONI's shocks for your car, they usually will outlive it. KONI street shocks carry a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser for as long as you own the vehicle.

I suggest uninstalling them to make adjustments. You can go directly through Koni with warranty issues.

Koni's does not make a complete strut for the E36 M3. You will have to cut your stock casing and bolt in the Koni insert.

Red Herring 09-08-2005, 01:14 PM Why are the ones for m3 cheaper than for 325's? What kind of springs does everyone suggest and how much are they? I don't want to end up with just struts and not enough money for springs.
ElSupremo 09-08-2005, 02:13 PM Why are the ones for m3 cheaper than for 325's?
I was wondering the same thing. When I did a GB through Strong-Strut the M3s were about $25 more than non-Ms. But that was about 2 years ago, or so.
M3Armand 09-08-2005, 02:17 PM So are the rear koni adjustables on this group buy adjustable from behind the rear wheels?
At least for the E36 M3, the rear shocks in question here CANNOT be adjusted from behind the rear wheels. You have to remove it from the car and adjust it per the website www.koni-na.com. Only TCKline (exclusive) carries the "special" rear shocks that you can adjust from behind the wheels - part# 8241-1200

You would have to contact Koni. The non-M3 shocks used to be cheaper, after there pricing went up a few months ago now the non-M3 shocks are more than the M3 shocks????

Red Herring 09-08-2005, 05:18 PM man, i kinda want in on the GB but it's just that the tokicos illuminas are cheaper even with springs. I know they're not as good but the price difference is adequate. I suppose if it gets closer to 10 people I'll have no choice but to get in on it.
Keep in mind that the Konis have a lifetime warranty

Not yet. It will probably last another week or so. It all depends on how many people end up interested. If the list doesn't start growing soon I'll end it quickly.
James I am getting some responses on this, give me at least a week to see how many more members I can get on this
vietxfire1 09-11-2005, 03:00 PM This is a great deal. Too bad this was 2 weeks too late. I got mine for about $595 shipped. Just to help out, I love this setup. I got the koni with H&R race springs. I love the firmness on the koni at max position. On my recent trip to reno, I dial down the sitting for a more pleasant trip. It takes a little more work but i feel its worth it. Free bump for a great product.
Storamin 09-12-2005, 04:53 PM I'm interested... Which springs would you recommend with these?
rdbwong 09-12-2005, 09:03 PM I'm gonna have to take myself off the list. Sorry, good luck with the buy. Going to get mine from Edge Motorworks.

Tochenzo 10-08-2005, 12:18 PM i think they're complete
joeytomato 10-08-2005, 05:30 PM M3s are the ones where u gut the struts and put the koni inserts. koni only makes the inserts for the M3 not a complete strut like non-Ms
hung low, no worries man, pm me about that paint job, trying to see what's up...

Preppy 10-14-2005, 12:55 AM Hrm, also, is there any way I can get a deal on the Eibach Sway bars for an e36 328is when I order my Koni SA's?

Thanks for letting me know.
I started this group buy well over a month ago and thought it had died. If our group buys don't do much in the first week or so we normally end them because we can't hold inventory for that long. Let me check to make sure I still have enough sets. Then we will have to see whether or not everyone is really in the group buy. If we don't get 10 payments we can't give the discount. I know some names have been listed from the beginning and they may not be interested anymore. After the first week I think I remember posting stating the group buy was over. We have to make sure some people didn't see that and change there mind. Thanks for promoting the group buy.
I'll keep you updated.
Those of you who have your names on that list better be serious! :mad
Preppy 10-15-2005, 01:20 AM I'm serious......and I am serious 'bout the sways too
pelos 10-15-2005, 01:26 AM i'm ready to buy right this second. why doesn't someone contact all those on the list to see if they are still intersted.

Preppy 10-15-2005, 05:55 PM Okay, so this really doesnt seem like it's going to happen unfortunately. I'm not in a big rush, so I can wait till we do get 10....

James@EurosportDesign 10-16-2005, 11:53 AM I just sent a PM to everyone on the list asking if they were still interested in the group buy. I know that Rooz, Pelos, tochenzo and preppy are ready but I'm not sure about everyone else. I'll post again when I receive replies from everyone.
Preppy 10-16-2005, 12:06 PM im still interested
Hey man, if you need help installing the Koni's, we should plan a day where we both install these. So then we can share a rented spring compressor. All I am doing is changing out my shocks/struts, which shouldn't take more than 2 hours tops now that I have done it 5-6 times.

definately, if this deal falls through i plan on getting springs as well so i can just get it done the same day
i guess i'll be number 10 and buy a set, granted there is no tax for CA buyers...

So what's the final GB price for the Koni's for an E36 328? Couldn't find it...

So what's the final GB price for the Koni's for an E36 328? Couldn't find it...
$579
Preppy 10-18-2005, 12:34 AM I am happy to see that the list is still as high as it is. :)
Now the question is: Are the people on the list in a rush to buy now, or would be it be stupid (not to mention worth it) to try to wait for 20 people? I am ready to buy at the 10 person price, but am in no rush and can wait for 20 if need be...
Tochenzo 10-18-2005, 01:33 PM well it took a pretty long time to just get 10 ppl, and if we wait a LOT longer, more people may drop out so i would prefer to just get it, unless its obvious that 20 ppl would get in on this deal
pelos 10-18-2005, 02:56 PM Tochenzo is right, it took so long to get 10, getting 20 will be more difficult.
James@EurosportDesign 10-18-2005, 03:42 PM I still haven't received a reply from two people. We may be down to 7. I can't let the group buy go on much longer.
Getting 20 people probably isn't going to happen. Last group buy we had 27 people within 2 weeks, this group buy is over a month old. I'm guessing most people that need Koni's took part in the last group buy.
Preppy 10-18-2005, 05:24 PM GRRRR. People, let's get crackin!
:( so we need 3 more people...
pelos 10-18-2005, 05:50 PM come on people. get in on this group buy.
I really doubt that there would be 20 people wanting to get in on this, since there was never 10 commited at any one time...
so its 10 people or nothing?..

More like 10 people very soon or nothing.... :(

No, this GB is for the Koni sport shocks.
pelos 10-19-2005, 02:47 PM james,

pelos 10-21-2005, 01:39 PM I guess this group buy is history.
James@EurosportDesign 10-21-2005, 03:40 PM Your right. I have to end the group buy, there is simply not enough people interested.
