i have been told many times that my car is black until they get up close to it. this is all at night time under regular lighting. during they day, though, you can totally tell it's blue. best color of them all. just got back from DC and when i asked the hotel valet to pull my car out, they were like: "the black BMW right?". i simply smiled and said: "yes, the blue BMW." they looked at me funny until they pull the car up and give a second look.

2nd picture is definitely a black car.

my dad has an orient blue e39, and my friend's dad has an orient blue e60. nice color. i agree, during the day you can totally tell it's blue. at night, it looks like a real deep midnight blue or black from a distance.

Does carbon black count? The first time I saw a carbon black car it was at night in a parking garage and I actually thought the car was blue.

Purchased the bra from www.bavauto.com. The price was a little over $100.00, not sure of the exact price. This is the second E39 it has been on...

It is definitely worth it since there are lots of rocks available to chip the paint. For all fellow Hawaii drivers: It seems that the stretch of H-1 going through the Pearl City/Waimalu area is the worst for me. Every day I hear little rocks hitting my paint and windshield :( . Then you have the flattened out aluminum cans literally "frisbeed" into your car by the car in the next lane :mad , pieces of wood :mad , shredded tires :mad , loose debris from truckbeds :mad :mad :mad , etc. Yep, I waited for a while before I bought mine but should have made that purchase right away.
