Anyone know of any really good manuals / software that covers the ins and outs of the BMW 525 TDS engine and ancilliaries?

And/Or... My engine has some serious issues, it has a slightly rough tickover and it won't pull beyond about 90mph and slows terribly on hills. But there's no smoke. So I don't believe the engine internals are worn (I'd expect blue smoke), or that the turbo isn't working (as I'd expect bad noises and blue/brown smoke) or even that the injectors are tired, because again I'd expect black/brown smoke). So maybe the pump, or hopefully some sensor or other. Any ideas or any diagrams/specs of the systems involved so i can test them?
