Hello,
I have been in the market for a new vehicle for a hwile now, and I have finally found a vehicle that might suite all of my needs very well. The car is a 1994 silver 525i BMW, and I was wondering how the vehicle performs over time. It has about 132,000 miles on it. Will that become a problem, or will the car still drive well. What were your takes on driving the 525i, and what were the pros and cons of it. I appreciate your help and hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks,
Robert Szanto

I have a 95 525I Auto with 170000 miles and it runs great. Is your a Auto ar stick. Most people seem to say that if it is an auto there is a good chance the transmission will go soon. However if you have had the fluid and filter changed several times I wouldn't worry. Before you buy it find out if they have service reciepts. With that mileage they should have replaced the radiator, water pump, fuel filter, changed the oil often, cabin filter(if they didn't the A/C will blow weak), and the brake rotors and pads. Check this site out also. http://www.bmwe34.net/

Thanks for the tips. It is automatic, but i'll be sure to check the fluids often. Any other tips for this model?

www.bmwe34.net and www.bimmer.info contain pretty much allt he info you could need about the car. :) Other than the transmission (stupid GM transmissions), expect thrust arm bushings/shocks/springs to start going bad soon if they haven't been replaced.

Take the car on the highway and see if it tracks straight... if the steering wheel shimmies at all you have room to bargain down.

I am on my second 525, the first was a 1991 and just sold it with 187,000 miles and it still ran good and was reliable-it was a stick. My new one is a 95-a automatic and runs way better than my old one, and is tighter all around and handles like a new car. This one is a automatic, and I have service records showing all the work. This car has a sticky lifter I have been trying to get rid of- I wouldn't be afraid of buying a 525 at all, especially if it has been taken care of and use your gut- does it feel right, ride right. The engines are strong and the ride is very good, even with miles if the owner took care of it. good luck and have some fun
