Damn, what an INCREDIBLE race!!

Montoya won. Made the last 4 or 5 laps with a damaged rear left tire (the most solicited tire on Monza) and with Alonso almost on his tail!

Raikonen finished 4th, after starting from 11th, a blown tire and a spin at the 2nd chincane.

Webber is INSANE!  I loved when he ignored the mechanic and got out of the pit lane side by side with Sato! :buttrock

Amazing race

Also good race from Pizzonia. Started 16th, finished 7th.

PS: Alonso 2nd, Fisichella 3rd.

Pizzonia's effort was also remarkable considering how little time he got before the race. Kimi just can't things to go his way. They had a good strategy until the tire replacement.

I do belive he could have won, If it wasn't fot that tire replacement. Never ending bad luck.

Webber and sato almost crashed, all the way through the pit lane  ouch

I missed the Weber/Sato part. Not sure that Kimi would have won, but second was a realistic. JPM was fast throughout.

They were side by side through the pit lane. At the exit, Sato was struggling not to cross the white line - there was probably .001" to spare.

F1 has regained some of its entertainment value.

Excellent race!

I missed the Weber/Sato part.

Sato had finished his pit stop, and was heading for the pit lane exit. Webber was still on his stop, ahead in the pit lane. The mechanic that holds that sign (brakes on/1st gear) did not raise it (almost hitting webber in the helmet) but webber knew the fuelling was over and launched in the exact time sato was passing through him, almost crashing.

So they went side by side until the first chincane, where webber was inside first, so got ahead.

Hard to explain, funny to watch. :D

That description makes sense. I think the last guy I would want to go wheel-to-wheel with is Sato. He's ballsy and sticks his car into places it shouldn't be.

Caught the 2nd half of the race, it was quite enjoyable. I was holding my breath for Montoya on those last 3-4 laps. GO KIMI!!!! The man is just soooo damn fast.

3/4 of that race was boring. The end was the only good part.

Kimi is an animal.

Great race for JPM from flag to flag. I believe Fernando was cruising most of the race. Kimi had to do all the work, and if it wasn't for that rear left tyre we would've seen a different podium. I guess he is not destined to become a champion this year with that kind of bad luck.
Go Fernando and clinch the title next week so we can see history in the making!!!

I'll take a race that is only 3/4 boring. That's a step up for F1. ;)

He would have, but the Finnish luck struck again :(

If I was hitch-hiking in the rain and Kimi stopped to pick me up, I would pass. I don't need any of his "luck" where motor vehicles are concerned.

I am still speechless that Kimi would have had pole position given the amount of fuel he had on board. Utterly amazing to say the least.

Since he went to the garage for the engine change are they allowed to put more fuel in the car then? That's want I thought happened.

No, the engine change was during Friday practice I think. He qualified on the engine he raced with, and had the same fuel load. It was just like a normal qualifying lap.

He could have gone into the pits and started at the back with whatever fuel load he wanted though.

I've seen cars do that, but it never works well. I tought the change was after final qualifying. So, yes more than impressive effort to be P1.

They changed his engine before qualifying. So knowing that Kimi would have a 10-spot penality from wherever he qualified they sent him out very heavy on fuel, in hope he'd be able to stay out longer. Kimi was on a 1-stop strategy and without the engine change would have still started from pole.

They extra 200lbs or so from a full car should severly hamper performance, and still his pace was faster than even JPM, who had much less fuel on board.

Full tank of fuel and spanks everyone on qualifing that man is so damn good. But luck is against him. Could still win the title if alonso crash's the next 4 races.

JPM's run was just incredible. It's just awesome to see him put so much heart into his driving.

I think Kimi may have just gotten podium, had he not spun out.

I dont much care for who gets the championship, so long as JPM boots Schumi's ass out of third place as well.

I thought it was a great race.

Webber is an idiot for driving thru the lollipop man's stop sign. Very dangerous. Was Sato penalized for driving over the white line?? I didn't see.

Kimi and JPM drove extremely well. Those cars are sweet.

Pizzonia somehow came up with some points!! I say drop Webber and keep Pizzonia and Heidfeld.

Does anyone have an idea about BMW colours and sponsors next year? My guess is that they will take the current colors of Williams with them to Sauber(sorry BMW). They used almost the same colours (well a bit darker) on Brabham BMW in the early 80s.
The drivers lineup would be JV and Heidfeld I guess, which is a good lineup to strt with, but I would rather have a young motivated driver than a fat expensive and moody world champion, IMO JV should be replaced.

It's not Kimi's luck that is failing him, it's the unreliability of McLaren.
He has blown something like 3 or 4 engines this year and had other malodies that have prevented him from moving up, also they have caused him to push hard on many occasions and have also allowed Alonso to ease up during the race knowing all he has to do is keep scoring points at each race and he will win the championship.

While undoubtedley fast(est) there has been no consistency at all, I do like there "go for broke" attitude. Sometimes it works (Montoya) and sometimes it doesn't (Kimi's flat spotted suspension busting tire). But either way, for the most part, it's the car reliabilty that has been there downfall.

I keep hoping Alsonso injures himself playing tennins and is out the remaning races so Kimi can win the championship. :dunno

While I'd prefer to see Kimi take the championship I just want it to come down to the last race where everything with all ride on once solid race.

The most imopressive stat from the race was....41 years. Last time all starters finished the race running. Hard to believe it is that rare of an accomplishment. Figure 15 races/year....that's over 600 races since it happened last.
