Yeah maybe we should try a different way to get people involved??? Instead of just standing in a parking lot looking at cars you've seen before!! .... maybe bring up the video/photoshoot info,Caravan's,Track Meets, or the dyno day....etc....

Well it doesnt have to be those exact categorys!!!
What it is now is that all you invision for the club???

I mean even the simple stuff as far as video goes, we could do drive bys at Pappas just to get members cars on tape.. (like dtm does it, very simple ),

I'm just saying maybe we could get people more involved..
Not that i have all the answers or any for that matter... just a few ideas

BTW: at 100 bucks a person if we get 30 people thats $3000
and i'm sure there are alot of people that would do this if given time and that would drop the individual cost. (I know thre are alot more details needed but just on the surface level its not that bad). When i see picture of meet other places put on there are like 60+ cars ...

All they do at those meets is stand around an stare at cars. They do stuff together all the time nobody in this state cares enuf they all are to cool to hang with anyone else.

Ya'll make it sound like its so easy to get people to do stuff. HIN big car show.....lots of guys went I told everyone to meet certian spot....4 cars showed up. The people were at the car show they just did not wanna hang out with anyone else.

Hey austin i'm not saying its easy or nitpicking becasue i understand that people will say alot of things but when it comes down to actually doing it ........well they don't (thats where we give them some modivation to show up).

Maybe it could start with the regulars , for example showing a presence at the track for a few hours, meeting up for happy hour on friday?? Ideas anyone?

I always invite people but no one ever goes. I cant get a hold of Joe, Sean went one time, and that is all I know. Chris normally goes, and then me and Brian (SI). if someone want to set up a time and place for a drive or a place to do some crazy shee-it I am down. Just let me know..

i was in College Station at Texas Motor Speedway all weekend. That is pretty close to there. My friend Brian and I are planning on coming down there on August 24 for the Import Drag wars. I will be racing and squeezing like a mofo. Should get some sicks video then. Ever seen an M3 with an 8 foot nitrous purge into the air! :evil2 :evil2 :evil2 :evil2 :evil2

Ok you never invite me, you call but always say you ar'nt gonna go that your tired.

I dont wanna do drag stuff thats not what the car was built for. I guess I am still working on my BMW film. We came up with some ideas but never followed thru I had trouble with my video stuff.

I'm goin to houston Aug 17th I think.

We need to do more stuff.

Scho

Pick a time and place. I will bring cameras, just get some people and we can do whatever. When I say I am not going to do something, I usually dont. I always have my camera and we sometimes shoot random stuff. that is how we get a lot of footage.

Plus, we race out front of my house! :D

Alright Scho sent me this page and I had to jump on. First off let me say was up to Scho and ChunkyD...ChunkyD give me a call and we'll hit up hooters sometime! Second off, Austin you know that we ALWAYS go to the track on friday's and that Scho and I go to the street races on Wednesday nights. Whenever you were invited it was one of two responses....going to the club or I don't want to drive that far. Well if you want to get involved in the video then you'd have to make an effort. It's funny how before when we used to hang out and chill and talk about cars that you NEVER said anything about makin a video. First time I heard anything about you wanting to make a video was when we showed you what we had done. Also this video is made up of all our boys driving around and doing our thing....but Austin it's kinda hard to get video of you racing your car when you don't get out there and do it. So, thats all I really have to say, but anyways....

Nice to meet the rest of you BimmerForum guys!

Plus if we are going to meet somewhere we need to be on time.
Understanding things come up, but for organizational purposes it's always easier if we say me at 11:00pm then we be there at that time or at least close to it.

It all depends on what level everyone is intrested in taking this too?? is it just for fun?? is it a hobbie?? or is it a potential business and investment which could lead to other areas of Bmw tuning??

But i'm usually down for whatever unless i get a page from my job.

I would just like to see more reliabilty/consistency if possible.
Honda and other car clubs don't seem to have this issue.

It starts with the regulars , if we are consistant then people will show.

I never told mike it was to far he tells me its to far he said he does'n know if hes goin to the track an does'n want me to make the trip is the usual response. Usually phone call i call mike he says hey i'm fix'n to go eat with my bro or you an he'll call me back later. Then i talk to him later hes like i dunno man i'm tired i dont know if we're gonna go so he tells me not to worry about driving up there. So if y'all dont include everyone or do anything I can't get anything done with the video. Also I dont want video of my car I dont wanna be in "your" video.

ChunkyD: How long ago was it that we had lunch together an talked about making the video ??

My car is'nt ready and I dont drag race i drive a car thats made for road racing.......and if u think i never said anything about making a video bet me so me some money and I'll be taken your money soon.

Scho
08-06-2002, 03:36 PM
Why dont we just get everyone and make some fucking video then!??? It is not hard. I will bring my camera to the meet and VOILA!! We make video. Simple as that. I want to include everyone that is interetsed doing all kinds of driving. That way it is more diverse. Cool with everyone??? Geez, it is not that big of a deal...

Maybe someday ppl will actually show up till then I dunno. The only thing that attracts anyone as a sure things is Cab Roy but thats only a small group. I think its just the mind set of the owners they are too independent.

Scho

It is also hard to get everyone organized. If we can actually get things going in small groups then others will see we are having a blast and doing things like meets and drives. They will join in. lead by example and let the others follow.

So, there is an auto-x on August 18th in Bedford. I WILL BE THERE!!! We will see who else shows up.

I'd also like to see something happen with this "club" thing. Chris (white e36 325i) has a complete professional fancy video cam setup that he offered to let us use to do whatever with but the last time I heard this mentioned was over 3 months ago.

I have been going to all the meets this year and every single time I think to myself, why doesn't anything happen?

I'm not trying to insult you Austin but it would be a big help if you delegated responsibility to other people in the club who have ideas and motivation to make things happen.

I've invited people to the meets and once they see how dumb they are the never return. There has to be some kind of substance if you expect to grow the club with new members who "do" enjoy hanging out and participating in BMW events.

Theres a lot of people out who enjoy "talking" about doing things, then theres the very few who actually take the initiative to start things. Anyone who is interesting in making videos, organizing drives, going to the track etc.. email me, I'll be there in a second.

I agree 100% with Dallasbboy

Austin
08-06-2002, 04:01 PM
I think the problem with this club is everyone expected me to do everything on my own then bitch when I dont do something they wantd. I dunno any car club where one person does everything. When I asked ppl to help orgainize stuff nothing gets done.

If this video is so easy why was it never done ? The video has been talked about alot we talked about it the night we watched that DTM video if you remember since i 'never' talked about it. We agreed to buy a car an shoot the shit out of it. Well i've been lookin for a car I found a few for $400 but i want lower than that.

Road trips we've done before, dyno days done before, caravan done before. Only thing we hav'nt done is video an photo shoot. Actually we've done a few road trips. Can't help it if nobody shows up an only says they will. So I will continue planning things out telling ppl stuff todo an ya'll will continue to not show up.

So maybe someday ppl will get off their ass's and actually commit do doing club stuff an hanging out. When I tell ppl to meet someplace to go drive around or HIN for example to go to a car show an only 4 cars show thats a great sign. I did my part I told ppl they did their part by not showing up.

don't get defensive we are all just stating what we think the club should be, and pointing out the concerns we have.

You mentioned when we first met that you were president, well.......... thats why we are looking at you partially.. like the title?? then be prepared to be the one everyones looking at
also you will be the one congratulated on a good club..
like Dallasboy said feel free to delagte and set some sort of time frame on it.

I mean i know we all have pretty much been at the meets... everyone i think just wants more..

I think we are headed in the right direction......

So then when ppl bitch at me you expect me to shrug my shoulders an go ok? I've been passive for along time I can only be nice for so long. Dallasboy said delagte stuff ?? I could've swore he had an idea an I told him to run with it work something out an what came of it ??? exactly :D talk talk talk....keep on talking

Wants more ? 4 cars showed to HIN meet....but more actually went to the show just did'n care to show before with the rest of us. We tried to work out a deal with a driving clinic.....nobody wanted to give money or sign up but said "great idea" we had abunch interested in dynoing their car but only half the ppl actually showed up. The list goes on. Hell that big deal they had a Auto-scope had a smaller turn out then expected so its not just us its the whole city.

The problems we face are big age range as well as income meaning the money ppl have to spend on the activities. The Honda clubs have alot more younger ppl than we do. Abunch of the younger ppl in this club are snudy an only wish to hang with other kids who popped outa a rich pussy. Lack of communication also an scheduels kill everything. Things are good for awhile then things are bad....now is just a bad time it once was good. Have you organized an event before ? It seems like it would be easy...for one dont listen to others or you will never complete anything cant plez the mass's. Things will change I sent out the e-mail speaking of this upcoming meet with ideas that should interest everyone as a whole. Now only thing left to do is sell the idea to the members get there attention then we will have attendance. Once attendance starts to rise more activitys will and can be planned much easier. Instead of trying many things at one time perhaps focus on a few. Dyno day and Auto-x.

White Mikes heading up the Dyno day and basically Auto-X.
BMW video can be done by chris and myself. "The BMW film"
Asian Mike created/designed and is hosting the club webpage for that I give many thanks.
The Caravan road trip to the Austin Hill Country we still need someone to help with this idea. I finally found the map I used from the last drive its awesome road I need to make copies an give to you guys tonight.

Deffensive I shall get inorder to keep things straight.....we can't have everyone saying what todo unfortunatly we need to have someone have the final say in what goes. At one time I had tried to elect officers to this club but the idea was shot down by the many. Try again some day I'm sure.

Anything left out ?

You made some good points and i have to admitt that i havent been around this club long maybe 5 or 6 months, so i might not understand your level of fustration 100%.

But like you said you can't please the masses, so i dont know about you but i really dont want to even bother with some of these punk kids that show up,

I'm talking about adults who own their cars and decide when and where they take their carS, that is who we have to look for .. not the ones who need permission or sneak the car to auto-x or drag.

I think organization and substance will draw in the older gentlemen with the z8's and the M5's extra...extra

and a voice at the meetings (which i know can be nerve wreaking) say THIS IS WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO to EVERYONE
at once..

if they keep leaving .....Oh well WEED EM OUT

also maybe we can get individual email addresses and phone numbers .. make the call personally or email

sometimes people wont check the forum until its to late and plans are made??

So i will be at pugsleys tonight (a little late due to prior engagments), please anyone else who can join us please come and help hatch this club out...

gee...you guys decided to chat today.

We've been trying to put stuff together ever since a few of us first met over a year ago. Through out all this time, one thing has been pretty constant. People will all say it is a great idea to do things together but NONE of them really did anything.

I think the main issue here is the age difference between the members. If you have noticed, the bulk of the people that show up drive M cars. M3..M5. I can usually count the number of non-M cars and people under 30 with one hand (no offense to those over 30 or close to it. we welcome all ages :D )

Now, Austin and I hang out almost every single weekend with the execption of a few. Only a few others have joined us.

So it is not because we don't do anything, it is the rest of hte group that doesn't want to do anything.

White Mike is putting together the dyno day. He needs 15 people. I would be surprised if we can get 10 to commit 100%.

So stop complaining that we are not doing anything and just show up.

When are you guys meeting at the library? what day

When are you guys meeting at the library? what day

Thanks someone on my side that knows what I'm talking about thanks for backin me up mike i felt alone on the issue. :D

Pugleys meet tonight......i gotta :boobies tomorrow night an thursday i might be up for a thursday night meet thou. Friday I'm leaving to go camping with her an stay gone the whole weekend. Yes I'm sorry I should be here at the meet to smooth shit out but this was planned awhile back with my parents due to me moving out they requested one last vacation together before i'm gone cuz they feel i wont ever come home again. SO since my parents are cool i grant them this wish for a happy family. Reason I wanna meet with the main crew before I leave so we can talk about shit before hand.

So we will start having events again an see who shows up I feel it might be bigger since we are having more younger ppl with motivation showing up. But its still my club. I felt one reason nobody listen'd to me was my age so I tied at some of the meets having my father step in an speak nobody listen to him either.

Like Asian mike said we did shit before an ppl juz talked......so I have someone to back me up on what I say. Talk to Joe about it also if u wish hes been here since day one also. This club is 1 year an 2 months old or there abouts.

I guess at the talk tonight we finalized the weekly meet, business card deal and thats it. Everything else is still being talked about.

It takes awhile to plan things right. Like this weekly meet before we go tell everyone we have to show up at the place to check it out so this friday someone needs to drive by the place at the time to see whats there.

People want an e-mail sent to everyone talking about the meets...that already happens the e-mails are actually very detailed.

People wanna have plans on message boards that happens also its up to whom ever writes them on how detailed they are.

People wish to have inside discussions at Pappas BBQ when they are asked to go inside they leave.

Flyers waste paper so we use business cards and have already been doing this.

The idea for video will work as long as we have server thats only thing that stopped us before.

The idea for drive will have to actually wait till alil cooler cuz while on drive we dont use A/C you'll need all the power u can get. The drive is also pretty dangerous.

The calender is good idea an should work nice. Show ppl when things are. We had a list before but calender works better.

Profiles we sorta tried but never went far enuf with. It'll take some work to iron this out.

Dyno day will hopfully work better this time.

Auto-x alot of ppl already go out there myself included just we dont go as a group yet. Its easier to just meet there I suppose.

The weekly meet is what I hope will work out best. Just have to check out the location before we invite everyone.

The talk was good thats what the weekly meets will be ideas from ppl. With the weekly meets more changes will start to happen. We will re-try most ideas. But I have good feeling about the weekly meets. I can't wait to get that into action once we ok the spot.

Sorry I couldnt make it to the meet tonight, I'm at work. I'm off the rest of the week until Saturday night. If you want to have another meet this week, let me know Austin.

Austin is upset and frustrated because since day 1 when I met Austin at the first meet, we've both had the idea to get a big BMW group together like the East and West coast guys. We've tried all kinds of stuff. The main problem to me is that the majority of the group that meets on our monthly meets is older like someone else stated before. The other problem is the people we try to get to join us have their own friends are stuck up like the stereotypical BMW owner. We are starting to get a little better now with Brian, Chris, Mike, Mike, and even Fred from Houston...but everyone has to understand why Austin is angry and its not like he never did anything to try to get this thing rolling along time ago. I know we already talked about this in the previous posts but I thought I would state my opinion since I think I'm part of this too.

Hey bulldog, what do you drive?

In response about the Honda Clubs and how they just popped out of a rich pussy:
I, like many of the other members on ClubSi, didn't just pop out of a rich pussy....we work for what we do to our cars just like how you guys work for what you do to your cars. The reason that the "honda meets" are so successful is because there is actual structure behind it. So what if those punk kids show up.....they end up leaving anyways because they are felt unwelcomed by the guys that are out there actualling doing what they're suppose to be doing out there and not acting like the Fast and the Furious. Honda owners are some of the biggest car enthuisists, and when they get together it's great because they're not just standing around looking at the cars, but actually throwing ideas and suggestions around on how certain mods can help someone else's car and so on and so forth. And again they are so successful all because of organization and structure...

Joe....I drive a '00 Si. The Sig was posted more directly to ChunkyD as an inside joke. I've heard an aweful bunch about your 325 from Scho and really hope I get a chance to meet you and take a look at your car. I will be at the meet on Sat. with Scho and ChunkyD....see you guys out there!:awink: :awink: :biglaughb

In responce to Hondas popping outa rich pussy's I suggest you actually read what I said. Here I'll copy an paste what I said in the above post......

The Honda clubs have alot more younger ppl than we do. Abunch of the younger ppl in this club are snudy an only wish to hang with other kids who popped outa a rich pussy.

So before you type alot again make sure you know what your talking about first ;) Honda and every other club are sucessful becuz the ppl actually care to show up. People like to blame the low turn out on me....then I say why was there a low turn out at Dallas Bimmerfest ? We've had meets that big before. Why does BMW CCA have the same size meets we do ?? So if its my fault for low turn out I had nothing todo with low turn out at Dallas Bimmerfest, Auto-scope car show, an BMW CCA meets .......

The BMW meets in LA were big an they were less organized than the Dallas meets.

Well you still have it wrong because the guys I hang out with from ClubSi are not "snudy" and they really DON'T wish to hang out with other people that popped outta rich pussy because those kids are the one's the make their cars rice mobiles that give imports a bad name. They buy every light and chrome part for their car because they can and the next thing you know you look in your review mirror and there's a K-Mart Blue Light Special pulling up behind you. But really it's kinda like when a kid pops outta a rich pussy and gets a BMW for their 16th B-day. You older BMW guys don't want to hang out with the kids that got a BMW for their 16th B-day do you? Why? Because they have no idea what they have....they just know it's a BMW. And they can ghetto out their BMW's just as much as a kid with a honda can. Ask Scho about the blue Z3 that drives around Flower Mound with the white powder coated rims and huge aluminum spoiler. It's a winner!
So I really don't see what poppin outta a rich pussy has to do with it because reguardless they could own a Honda, BMW, Chevy, or anything else and be "snudy," and still make it ghetto as hell. In a nutshell, people that are car enthusists regaurdless on what they drive, are gonna want to hang with people that know what they are talking about rather than some "snudy people that popped outta rich pussy." Does that clear it up? Does anyone else agree with me on that?

You still have it wrong. I shall break it down for you.

"The Honda clubs have alot more younger ppl than we do. " The only thing I said about Honda clubs are they have more younger ppl. Where you got snuddy an pussy I dunno.

Then I said this.

Abunch of the younger ppl in THIS club are snudy an only wish to hang with other kids who popped outa a rich pussy. So I said nothing about Hondas being snuddy or hanging out with rich ppl you put those two together. The same with you telling me I "never" said anything about the video the video had been talked about before I even met you.

Abunch of the younger ppl in THE BMW CLUB are SNUDY and only with to hang with other kids who popped outa a rich pussy. Which means the e46 guys to narrow it down an you know who I mean only wish to hang with other North Dallas e46 guys an excluded everyone else an saw Oh sorry insert lame excuess here.

I said nothing about Hondas but their crowd is younger an they care more. You put in all the rest. I actually said good things about the honda ppl I've hung around them an other clubs.

Popping out of a rich pussy has alot todo with it they usually have narrow view of the world an real life facts an only see those who have money as friends those who do not can't hang out with cuz they dont have what it takes. Thats the majority of this BMW club thats why it struggles to live. Thats what Asian Mike, Joe and myself have been saying but nobody listen's only twist words around. I have no problem with anyone I'm only telling everyone how it was and how it will be. Brian I dunno if u have a clue how snuddy these guys are they will look u in the eyes an walk away but act as if your friends when its in there interest.

Abunch of the younger ppl in this club are snudy an only wish to hang with other kids who popped outa a rich pussy. We lack members that are interested in doing stuff other than talk about how much money the made an what expensive parts they bought. For the most part thats all the guys in this club care about is bragging. The few that wish to hang out we already do they just wish to have more. More I dunno where from but the bragging rich guys wont be hanging out with us we wont have the same interest. Thats why we have low turn outs. You either make somethign for the rich guys or the guys who care.

I am open to any new idea or old idea worth trying again.

So Brian to make things finally clear I said nothing negative about honda clubs or them being snuddy or wanting to hang with rich ppl you mis-read what i typed. And I even typed it sober. But now i'm drunk juz got back from lower greenbile had about two pitchers of bber it took me about half an fuckin hour to type this correctly. So basically everything you have said I would have said myself but your doing it for me ;) just you think i'm dissagrereeing with you,. Theres a freakin period in my statement i was talkin shit aobut the BMW club not the HOnda club. So chill out before i shove a $1 chicken sandwich up your tail pipe.

I agree with scho lets have a bbq and chill this mess out!!!!!!

Austin: The "I've done it all, tryed it all, no point in doing it again additude" GOES NOWHERE ... keep that shit at home ...

we had a good meet myself,brian(e46 m3),Asian mike, and you and came up with some possible ways to get people involved, but alot of what myself and brian said seemed to be disgarded as
been there done that.... by you and asian mike ..what was done 1 year ago to no advail really doesnt mean anything now..

oh and enough with the stop blaming poor me stuff, i dont think anyone specificlly said that low turnout was because of you but the fact that you are the contact most of us met for the club.. so we are telling you about our ideas and complaints..

This is all kinda old news and i know we had the meet but i figured i should say something else although it is late..

So chris dont tell me what todo I'm not your kid so dont tell me to "keep shit at home" when I said we would re-try everything. If you wont listen to what I say I can't help that.

Back in April/May we had a joint Dallas drive with the Dallas VW club. Only two BMWs showed up. The VW guys had a party an invited us I think 3 BMW's showed up. That was this summer also. About two months ago I tried to have the TBC indoor Kart racing pplz responce to that was whats wrong with the old meet place an why do we have to pay a desposit. Also White mike can confirm this i talked to him about it I was putting together a dyno day about 2-3 months ago at Nor Wood (sp) the Ferrari place just the person I had to give me discounts was taken awhile an never got the price any lower so I told White Mike we're not gonna do it. So I never stopped trying to have events. Every month we have at least one event if not two. I send out e-mails about them also. I tell ppl at the meets about them also.

So my done it all tried it all attitude must be hard to have if everything above is true. The VW/BMW drive was really nice for the Dallas area I would'n mind taken the Dallas guys there I'm just waiting for the temp to cool off first.

Right now I'm focused on weekly meets I've had ppl write back expressing their interest....as always.....but I think we might actually have ppl show up. I was looking for a spot to have the weekly meets at I found Jamba Juice just a few days ago reason we are having them now.
