I come in peace. I love the E38. I love the E39. I loved my earlier bimmers too, such as my E34 M5, E28 535iS and E30 325iC. All were somewhat trick, and I've been a pretty harcore bimmer fan since '90. Background established for what comes next.

That said, I'd like to know if anyone feels the same way about the facelift on the current 7.

I got used to the E65, and after seeing enough with really nice wheels (no, not the heavy-looking "pimp my ride" kind) it grew on me. A lot. Back end, front and all.

Then I saw the redesign, and I thought it was a big improvement. For a few weeks. Then, after flipping through the usual bimwad magazines covering the revised seven, every time I'm in the master bathroom (aka the "library"), I started feeling like it's not as exciting, too familar, too, oh, I don't know. It just stopped working for me the way the original E65 did.

In my area, there are plenty of sevens, and several new ones are showing up. I'm starting to find I prefer the edgy look of the original.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Dave

strangely i know what you mean. a girl at my school (no kidding) drives a fully AC Schnitzer kitted (complete with the huge ACS wheels) 760Li. it looks downright stunning...so much so that i purposefully park as far away from her as possible.

now i see the new 750s and can't help but think that they should have ignored all the nay-sayers and stuck with the E65/E66 design.

I have absolutely loved the E65 since I saw it at the Detroit auto show in 2001. I think it is dropdead gorgeous. I really like the looks of the new 3 as well. The new 6 is third on styling, and the new five is the one I am currently on the fence about. Wait, forgot the Z. Love the Z4. Much more than the Z3. I wish they would have made a Z4 M coupe with the M5 V8. No opinion on the X's as i'm not a fan of SUV's. Stu's .02

I dislike both new designs. The new rear is better then before, but now looks like a copy of a Acura RL...or was it a Toyota Avalon. One of those 2.

I'll never forgive the criminals involved with the E65's aesthetics. You couldn't GIVE me an E65

So in the alternative...I'm 9th on my dealer's list for the M6, most likely the rag-top version (SMG - 6 speed yet to be decided)

If you are bored with it, BMW will change it again soon (2008?)

The new 750 is a step in the right direction, but not close enough, IMO. If I have to keep staring at it to find something I like about it - I won't.

The wheels or a grounds effect kits should not make the car look acceptable. They should enhance an outstanding design. Otherwise, they only make the car heavier, slower, and sometimes - funny-looking :) .

Peace - out.

I agree with JFSTU. I have always loved the sytling of the original e65.

I've been the same way about the 5, but it's growing on me now. Still fighting with the eyebrow indicators. I've been seeing more with very nice staggered wheel upgrades and it's starting to come together for me. Maybe I'm such a wheel geek that anything bolted to wheels I like will do it for me.

Anyway, I'm getting more comfy with the idea of having an E60 545 manual when the time comes for my 540 to move on. Frankensieben, however, will have to stick around. I love this big, silly car.
