And works fine at low volume.

I ordered my wife an AudioBahn powered sub and installed this evening. Everything went fine until I turned my volume up past a mid level (14) and the sub cut out completely. Once I turned the volume below 14 the sub kicked back in AND THUMPED. Troubleshooting points me to an Ohm/Impedence level, and I must check it with a meter. My first guess was the sub has inadequate sized wire for the power wire? Is this realistic? Has anyone else experienced this prob? Any suggestions?? :help :help :help

Here is the ebay link where I bought the sub/amp combo: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5800362927&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

how did you hook it up? where are you getting the sound from? what size wire are you using?

i've seen people use extremly under sized wires before and all that happened was the wire starts heating up and eventually burns.

actually i seen it once but he was drawing waaaaaaay more power than you are.

Ok. Problem solved. The remote wire (when hooked directly to the battery) is allowing me to go to high volume.

Next problem. I have a Ford Expedition with a Pioneer 12" sub in an isobaric box hooked up to the Expedition factory amplifier (mebbe 30 watts) and the bass that's created sounds deeper. Is this due to the fact that I have more cabin pressure in the Expedition, or is this sub/amp combo crap? I've heard good things about the Audiobahn powered sub. Also, how should I adjust the gain, bass, and frequency to best perform in my car.

This unit also has the remote bass knob.

i would of never guessed the remote wire.

sorry i don't tune, i just install. but if you want something to tie you over. i just turn the gain and boost up till it's to a level were it sounds best at the loudest level i listen to the radio at with out distorting. as for the frequency i set that to what ever the sub is rated at. then i twick it just alittle. i set it to give me the most volume and bass it can with out distortion.

you should know i am well known for blowing speakers. they always sound great they just don't last.
