What size rims do you have? I have a set of pilot sports for the stock basketwheeve rims with 90% tread left on them if you are interested in them. I am currently running the Kunho Exsta Supra (255/35ZR20). They definately do ride rougher the the pilots.

Michelen Pilots on my bike went just like they did on my M5....stickier than shit but they go quick. I had the Kumho Exsta also, cheap tire meaning price, nice aggressive lookin tread pattern, and unless you drive your 7 like I did my M, you'll be fine with the Kumho's. Buy for purpose first, then price. I'd get em unless you track your car or drive it harder than most.

Up to you bro, try the Kumho's and see if you like them...if not, they're cheap enough not to feel bad about. I ride my 7 like I ride my bike like I rode my M....hard...or at least I try  LOL!! For a stock suspension car (read sponge) I think the Kumho's will keep you happy in a straight line and other daily driving. Either way, your pocket!! Save the money, get the Kumho's and go get a tranny download like my ass needs ;) !!

My E39 chewed them up like bubble gum, I can imagine what an E38 would do to them.
I just ran out my PS on my E38 after 25k miles and whereas I was going to replace them (they didn't have PS2s in my size), I ended up getting the XGT-Z4. I guess Michelin brought them back because of popular demand. They're not as aggressive as the PS, but with proper rotation I was told to expect close to 30k miles out of them. I have 255/45/18s on a Dinan suspension so to me that's pretty good. I also got out the door for about $300 less than what the PS would have cost me.
And as you can expect from Michelin, they're quiet and are a great riding tire especially on the freeway which is where my cars see most of thier time.

Good luck.

I have Kumho ASX 17" (all season) tires on my e34 and I love 'em. I also had Kumho Ecsta 712s on my old 1991 735iL and they were great summer tires. But they needed to come off as soon as the temps dipped consistantly in the low 40s...they became hard as bricks and lost their traction. But, that is how they were mfg'd...so choose the tire according to the conditons they will be driven in. Tires are like shoes...you don't where slippers to run the 50 yard dash, you don't go hiking in Hush Puppies, and you don't where 3" spiked heels to walk thru a snow storm. :devillook

You've got to look at what type of tire you are using...and what their tread wear rating etc. Don't expect to get 50k miles out of a summer tire (soft rubber) that has a 30k warranty.

I bought the Kumho ASXs (all seasons) to run on the Touring in spring, summer, and fall. I use dedicated snow tires for winter driving up here in the Great Lakes region of the US. The decision for the all season ASXs was for the late snow falls (in spring) and early snow falls (in fall) that can catch you off guard before or after the snow tires have been swapped.

I purchased the ASXs last November and had them on about 2 weeks before we got an early 1" snow/ice/slush condition right before Thanksgiving. The tires handled beautifully and I was glad I made the purchase. Now that I've had them on thru this spring and summer...they are handle great, they are not noisy, and they handle rain/wet conditions very well. I'm impressed and would purchase them again.

so it would have to be able in snow and cold conditions... maybe they just take time to warm up?...

i have decent tread left on my PS, and i love the agressive look... just the front are bald on the edge, so i worry about a blow out...

think i'll go with the kumhos a/s for now... its hard to find in NYC think i'll have to go out to a tirerack location and pick up a set
