Well after driving the old girl a bunch I feel she is lacking Hp in the upper RPM range. Seems to die off after 4500 rpm. Peak power is (according to factory service manual) 5800rpm should be peak.

I've done wires, plugs, coil, cap, rotor, adjusted the accelerator pump with the TB. The last thing I'm thinking of is the distro?? or does the mechanical fan really drain the HP up top?

how's the fuel flow? You change out the fuel filter and/or test the pump?

My 74 tii is mostly stock and it lives at post 4500 rpm .. you hit 4k and it makes a wooshing sound and it gets on the power like crazy.. no way the mechanical fan would account for your problem.

Timing advance?

I have changed the fuel filter, not yet checked pressure, Timing still gots to check, but I feel it's ok as it has bucket loads of torque, perhaps mechanical advance? Is there a distro w/o point and condensers out there for this thing like the old redblock volvo engine's?

also I run 94 octane. maybe to much for stock timing?

Check the timing. If it is retarded you will have problems similar to what you are describing.

Ok adjusted my timing some clockwise is retard and counter is advance right????

I turned it more counter ( I don't have a timing light all by ear :help)

But power increase some and definatly more throaty and muchoes better throttle response.

and Giving it from 0-140kph something like 0-86ish mph on a gravel road with lsd is wicked :buttrock

yes, that's right. Now advance it a little more and see how it runs. Keep advancing it until it Pings, then back off a little. You use Premium right?

Timing is now set @ 6* BTDC @ 1000rpm and this thing flies now woot spent a while re-adjusting my mixture and resyncro the TB with the Fuel pump

:D Very happy with the results and make a great noise too

like 2002maniac says to hit the real sweet spot, find pretty long hill and park at the bottom. Advance till it pings and back off just a smidge and run up the hill. If it still pings on the hill, retard it a bit and run up again. Keep doing that till you make the hill with no pings and it should be spot on.
