I'm pulling this engine from a toyota 4x4 out in the yard and this guy comes over -- his car just pulled up and they are getting gas.

He sees the 3 bmw 2002's parked around this toyota I'm working on and he's in my face saying he wants to buy the white one

But he just doesn't want to buy it, he wants it NOW!

How much do you want for that one. Well I say I just got it, not title, engine has a knock, no exhaust, body in great shape. I say i've got plans for it, but I don't really have a price in mind as I had to trek to Eugene to get it and so on. He's like 'My wife wants to get out of here, i'll buy it now, how much do you want for it'.

Sheesh I'm in the middle of something and this dork wants a price on a car I haven't even considered selling. And he wants a price NOW.

I plan on pulling the engine and putting it in this one

and using some parts on various other things. Thats why I bought the damn thing -- for parts and for a future project.

This guy just can't stand it .. he has to know what my price is. 'look my wife wants to go so I can't talk long.'

So I tell him $5000 and you can have it. 'This conversation is finished' he says...

Ya I think. Thanks a lot buddy. Pony up 5 big ones or get the feck out of this town. I know he doesn't represent California [his car had cali plates, big surprise], but you've got to have some balls to get on my ass in Oregon in a town with no cops and full of mostly loyal gun nut bmw loving rednecks. Its like he owned the car and was only coming over to pick it up. sheesh

I hope it wasn't one of you guys -- I was in a bad mood covered in grime from this old toyota. Thanks for the vent.

I know what you mean.

My car was parked on a road in my neighborhood, due to a failed MSD box. So, while im hanging over the engine bay trying to fix the damn thing, a guy drives up and asks how much I want for it. :confused I said " It doesnt even run, and I just bought it last fall." He says, "Give me a price."

I was going to ask 7-10k, but I didn't have the heart to do it.

Why can't people just give us a price instead of always asking "How much?" I hate that.

i know exactly what you mean. I had just gotten my car about a month ago and I went to the local creamie stand for some soft serve. This huge guy comes over and asks me that same dreaded, "How much you want for it?" I told him that I just got it and it wasnt for sale right now. He got right up in my face and said, "Do you know how hard it is to find a decent 2002 in New England?" like I was supposed to feel sorry for him. I just told him, "Yes, thats why I went down to Texas to get this one." I hate those kind of people.

I dont hate it when people ask to buy my cars. I think it is a great compliment. Some guy asked the same about my 318is, I told him 5k. he was seriously thinking about it. The funny part is, I bought the car for $1200 6 months ago and have put another 1500 into it since. lol.
