I dont know if this happened after I installed the coilovers or if it was already like this (dont remember seeing it). Im not sure if it is a old weld where someone had tried to fix it in the past? Can it just be welded to fix. Or am I looking at a shock tower replacement? Arrghh!!!! :mad It truely is one thing after another.

Youre not running a stress bar in the back with your coilovers? Nobody mentioned to get one?

Taken from Ireland Enginnering's Site
"As this arrangement puts added stress on the shock towers, you should carefully inspect your car before ordering. We strongly recommend using some form of added chassis reinforcement (ie; rollcage tied into shock towers)"

It maybe welded, depending of the severity.

For some reason I thought you always had stress tower braces, or was it just the front? Anyway Ireland sells them and Top End sells the rear one with the battery holder for the rear. Some people dont really like them because they want the battery to sit lower in the car. Here the link to Top End's brace

Ireland told me that a strut tower brace wont do anything. I planned on getting a full cage tied in to the strut towers next year. I only drove it once for a short time since I installed the coilovers! and I didnt even drive it hard. I also didnt expect that area to be effected.
I need this fixed!!!

No, many 02's are running over 200hp with no problems at all. Looking at the level of rot around the crack, I feel it is only the tip of the iceberg for this car, and an extensive body resto is in order shortly.

You're in Ontario? Where? What colour is your tii? Before I moved from Burlington 9 years ago, I sold my Schwartz 72tii to a guy in Kitchener.

A tad sooner then I planned. Mike from the FAQ has offered his welding skills to help get it road worthy enough to attend all of the planned events in Sept. I just have to make it down to CT without it falling apart. (fingers crossed)

I work in Oakville, it's green.

(back on-topic)
I know my rear strut towers were redone, and as of right now no rust is present on the car(well super super minor) I plan on doing a turbo Engine as I'm in love with torque and the engine will be spouting ~300ft/lbs. I have driveline figured out but now I'm a little worried about the body not handling it unless full on rollcage? Or is this more from suspension being to stiff. I see yes there is some rust but to moi it didn't look all that bad.

and good luck with that VT your car looks damn good.

But you never know till you really get into it. I hope its not bad. I wonder how much rust is hiding under the undercoat paint.

That part of the chassis is'nt designed to carry the load of the rear end. Thats one reason why I did'nt persue a coil-over for the rear. Good luck with the repair.
