My boyfriend and I are thinking about purchasing an 06/07 325i within the next year...but we are a little concerned to have seen a bunch of them sitting on the side of the road or being put on towtrucks lately...is there some kind of problem with the E90s? Any recalls we should know about??

Thanks!

I haven't seen any on the side of the road. The 325 is one of the most reliable engines that BMW makes. I have not had any problems with mine in the past 2.5 years & 66K miles.

Maybe you keep seeing the same one on the tow truck :stickoutt

The motor in your 325 is completly different from the one in the new E90 325. Compairing the two is pointless. The only things that I've seen are a transmission error that gets corrected with a software update, but it does cause a driveability issue when it happens. The other initial issues was the pump that builds up pressure in the fuel tank failed. But I've only seen those conditions on 2 or 3 cars total. A few bugs are always to be expected on a 1st year model car, it doesn't matter who makes it. But the new 3 won't be nearly as bad as the '99/'00 Volvo's or the early '00 benz's.
