Whats so funny? 20k for a kit installed, with a clutch flywheel package, differential, custom exhaust and good quality gauges and electronics, 450-500rwhp, isnt bad @ all.

20k!?!?!? Ouch!

That's the "CA lowballing" in me talking there.

wow $20K
lets break that down?
450rwhp turbo kit ~$8k
clutch/flywheek combo $1k
custom exhuast ~$800
we can even install stand alone @ ~$3k
Differential ~$2k
how much are guages and let s not forget tuning ~$5200
here's where your 20k is going into

Well all the piping is custom depending on application so is the tuning
and a few other things so when you say kit that means a fit all turbo
and the ICS cars are way above a kit in terms of just bolt on make it work.
Also the customer service before and after is great. So Im not sure the word
kit would apply to ICS.

honestly 20k for the work that ICS does definetely is well worth it. especially the customer service. For the power your getting from a BMW it is well worth it. if people are complaining about how expensive turbos are then dont drive a bmw an go buy a evo. you can get 500whp with $5k or less

After having my Technique Tuning Stage II recently installed at ICS, I am definitely happy I had them do the install. I thought that I would be able to handle the install of the kit myself, but it really does involved a lot of labor. The customer service that ICS offers you even after your kit is installed is what makes them special. George even called me the night I brought my car home at 1:30 a.m. to make sure I got home okay and that the car was running well. We've spoke on the phone days after the install just to make sure everything is the way it should be. Every car will have its minor issues, I'm glad I have someone to go to when I have a problem with the car and they are willing to help. Their prices are very reasonable compared to other shops, and their experience is invaluable.

More I drive FI car, more I realize that there will be some things wrong here and there along the way. For that very reason, having an tuner shop like ICS who will be there for you is priceless all together.

For me, I am not so much interested in saving dollars to get my car in top shape. But I am interested in getting my money's worth with quality product and service. ICS has been one shop that delivers just that.

Three places that I can leave my car in full trust, ICS, AA, and Curry's

let me guess they said they would have your car done on so and so date and tehn when that date came and went the car wasnt ready?? Then you were like wtf? They are extremely busy guys, believe me I've been waiting for my car since like may just for the re-tune and some little things and I'm not going to complain because I understand what its like over @ ICS. They just dont have the performance side of things, they also run a regular shop, oil changes, regaular maitenence, etc.........but if i'm wrong in my assumption of what happened to you then completely ingnore all that I have just said...haha

Actually our engine builder, had an emergency operation which put him out of commision for 4-5 month. He almost passed away when his appendix bursted open for many days without going to see help which contaminated his blood. He was 6'4 215lbs, and when he was released he was 128lbs, so..... he needs to get back up on his feet to finish many our our engine builds. I use him b/c I have never had any issues with him, the funny thing is I never asked for 1 cent, so it amazes me how we get bad mouthed, without collecting any kind of money. I guess ill sell the motor to someone else who appreciates and understands how a buisness runs. Sean, Jarek is delivering your car Tuesday or Wednesday of this week, so keep in contact with Brian, have a great week-end.

What do you want for the motor? .......................................Just joking Concentric.

That fact ICS helped me on a install that wasn't even something they sold and still offered the same service they would offer if it was one of their own products makes me stand by the service ICS provides.

Call it what you want, but I've tried the cheap route and it ended up being a legal case that I'm still dealing with... and it was not cheaper at the end of the day.

If $20k is alot, then start doing your own labor and save yourself all the time and effort ICS goes in to making a custom product for you...

20k for a turbo on a car that is worth less than 20k is pretty bad in my opinion. Lets not kid ourselves either unless it's a 99 m3 in good condition it is worth less than 20k.

Everything is all custom made everytime, so its takes way to long and time is money, I will be doing another kit soon and sending out the exhaust and all the piping to be made, which will cut time and cost without a doubt. We all know it takes many hrs RND making something from scratch rather that making it once and then mass producing it.

Well by that logic, its better than putting $10k into a $4k honda. You can't compare a 500whp turbo BMW to anything you could buy new for 40k. To each his own.

I can attest that this stuff takes a lot of time. If you value your time, you can see why 20k isn't a bad deal at all. When you go beyond a basic "kit", having someone who REALLY knows what they're doing is worth a lot. Sure, there's a lot of people who can bolt on a turbo kit, but a custom setup, like what ICS does requires many more skills, resources, and experience.

If you want to go cheap, you're making compromises, both in the quality of parts, and in the quality of work.

Got any travel discounts? :D
This sounds like a place I'd like to have a SC installed in my coupe!
Maybe you Performance Technician needs a semi-vacation to Hawaii and do a little work, and then you can write off the travel expenses on your taxes! ;)
That would be nice, only problem is when there's a problem with the car after the install.
You really can't put a $$$ amount on professionalism, as it's all subjective to what YOU want. I personally don't think new BMWs are worth the money the dealers are asking for, but people will pay it!
ICS has my vote, and 20K for some custom performance work, with excellent follow up and customer service is priceless.....I never did, and never will get that from my dealer.
Just MHO
