I picked up from BMW a couple of the plastic thingo's that go on the door lock - (see my lock and one of them in place loosely). They seem a pretty tight fit and I was wondering if there is a little trick to getting them on.
Also are there any grommets that go on the latch on the B pillar? - i was thinking there might be one for the large adjuster screw on the latch (see pic) - the drawings on Mobile Tradition show a grommet on the door but it's are not clear on where it goes.
Thanks

No trick. Just a firm push with your thumb.

Thanks Cris - I am a pretty big unit with strong hands and I pushed until I felt a blood blister on the tip of my thumb coming on! It has these two little tabs inside the cap that obviously lock the tab onto the lock arm once it gets to the checked in section on the lower part of the arm.
I'll give it another try after work and see how I do - might use my 16 y.o. sons thumbs as he is finished soccer season and doesn't need them for a while (he's a goalkeeper!).
Am I right that there should be a grommet on the large adjusting/securing screw on the "B" pillar latch?
Thanks

Not sure what you are asking about the latch on the B pillar, but some silicone spray, or silicone grease might make the rod grommets slip in easier.

I was guessing that there might be grommet on the door latch on the B pillar from the exploded drawing at Mobile Tradition, but indicated I could be on wrong track - was seeking clarification. I have just had another look and think I may have just become a bit confused on a part of the drawing.
What and where is the rod grommet?
Thanks

The door rod grommets go at the end of the coat hanger like rods in the door. They stop the door rods from rattling.

Those "corn kernel" shaped things should just push onto the dooe lock mechanism. Maybe a plastic mallet?
On the pillar side (your "2620" pic) there has never been a plastic pice there on my '76 that I've owned since 1983. I think that it's just supposed to be the metal. The "corn kernel" takes care of the slack.
