Actually im thinking of building a turbo 4.3 insead of another 383 tpi for my camino. i suspect that top speed was a areo problem, but i dont want to clog this forum up with non bimmer chats. i just have not been able to find much about parts for turboing a 4.3 oddly enough and i knew someone on here had one - chris

Yeah, the truck squirts to 60 faster than most things on the road. But doing more than triple digits feels like pushing a brick through wet concrete. PM sent.

How fast do you want to go? A good buddy of mine as a 305 tpi and is running high 13's all motor in his 86 iroc. If you already have a tpi motor, why not turbo that? there's no such thing as too much power. haha.

Well i was racing a NSX on the highway (closed i swear :evil2 ) and after i showed him that his rice was not worth having on the road i got about a mile or so ahead of him. When i got to the next exit i was still hitting the redline (about 8500 rpm) and all the sudden i hear the motor start knocking and the oil pressure dropped down to 20 psi. To make a long story short i pulled the motor to find i spun 2 main bearings. I put a 350 in it just to drive it around but it wasnt the same so i pulled the car apart so i could re- spray it only to find horrid body work in the quarters so i am fixing that now but that should be done soon. I decided that i wanted to build something a little different this time around and i have decided that a turbo 6 is what i want to do. I think that a 4.3 will be easier that a 3.8 to get in and set up so thats what brought me to the cyclone/Typhoon motors. - chris

Don't spell it Cyclone... someone will eat your head. It's Syclone. The 4.3's in these trucks are finiky. I'm learning this quickly. Many parts are dealer only and ignition components need to be replaced often. The all wheel drive is really this trucks claim to fame. I don't know what you could bolt up to it for a RWD setup, but I'm sure it's simple since the block is basically a 350 with 2 cylinders missing. Let me know if you want more info.

All the info possible would be great. its looking like its gonna cost me the same to build a 4.3 with the turbo as it is to build another 383 with the same power. more and more it looks like a turbo 6 is the way to go. - chris

i like the syclone myself, but i'd take a 325ix instead anyday... or better yet...a 320 w/ an ix conversion on it, better yet a ralley car w/ it... that'd be sweet!!! :D

Sounds like ludicris insanity. Have you ever even driven a Typhoon or Syclone? Im going to go out on a limb here and say no since you would rather take a 325ix (have you driven one?) which is nothing special compared to these, hell, how can one even begin to compare these to one another.
