I have a quick and easy question or two ... I think.

I am just about to purchase an '06 3 series, but I have been getting different answers from different dealers regarding the navigation system. I have an ipod and a blackberry that I would like to integrate into the car.

1. With the Nav system, I'm assuming I have to purchase an additional ipod adapter (I want to use the features through the wheel, so no aux jack) - AND will the Nav system display all the song info, etc?

2. Just to confirm, with a 7100 blackberry, it will work via bluetooth, but I will not be able to transfer my address book on the phone?

I have 7100 blackberry, and can use it just fine with the NAV system, I havent been able to sync my phonebook with the car though. I was going to ask my dealer if it is possible.

Your ipod can not be controlled from the steering wheel controls. All we have is an aux input which uses a 1/8 stereo connector. They don't make (at least as of yet) the adaptor for the ipod like they did for last years model that you could use the controls on the steering wheel.

As for your blackberry, you can use it to make and receive calls but it will not upload your address book or call lists, and as for the voice active controls, I do not think that they will work either. So in order to make a call you will have to pick the phone up and dial, but you can use the car controls to answer the call.

Is there any idea as to when the ipod adapter will be ready? And as for the blackberry, will there be any updates to the software to make this work?

On another note of the ipod, when the adapter is finally ready for the new 3, will that then be the answer to showing song info, etc. on the nav system?

Since the Blackberry 7100 (is it called anything else?) is not listed as a compatible phone with BMW, I doubt you will get any tech assistance/software to help your situation. The only thing you could do right now is to make sure that you have the lastest software in your phone. That may help, but then again, it may hurt operation as well.

As far as the ipod steering wheel control, I haven't heard anything yet from BMW as to if it will be available.
