IIRC, BMW didn't ever sell a whole lot of e28 M5s in the States. I could be wrong, but I think European Car stated something like 1500 were sold here. The engine was shared with the e24 M6. If it's a genuine one and you have the cash I say go for it.

It is faster than an M6 though, because it is like 200lbs lighter. I would go for it as well. Keep in mind, the engine is VERY expensive to repair/rebuild.

Yeah, the engine is more expensive than your typical M30, but then again body panels, trim, etc. are less expensive for an e28 than an e24.

theres many threads in here on it. I am considering buying one myself.
Yes, they are expensive to fix, make sure you get a good one. A fixer uper isnt the same as an e28 535

Yesthey are. But beware of the faults. They are no daily driver if you drive at all, especially filling a $60 tank every time you drive 250 miles
I want one, as a turboed weekedn warrior. You cannot beat the 535 for the daily grind
