Hey,

I thought I try posting here if anyone could hook me up. I'm looking for a beater car I can mess around with to learn stick shift. Once I'm done with it, I'll let my sister learn to drive in it aswell.

requirements:
1. Mechanically works for at least the next 6 months with not much more then oil changes
2. Has to be stick shift
3. Has to be safe
4. Passes inspection
5. budget: ideally $200ish but willing to go up to $500 depending on condition and car

If anyone has a car like this or knows of a car like this, please let me know.

Thanks,
Robert

"Hello?"
"Sure, just a second...."
"Hey Robert, it's 1972 calling, and he wants his used car prices back!"

C'mon, $200? It's cost that to get a car inspected and emissions.
If you're serious about learning, I'll teach you on my car. Hit me up sometime on the weekend. And if you're sister's hot, I'll teach her too :D

I don't think I'd be able to learn on someone else's car. I'd be too afraid to messing up to concentrate. I found a 1990 VW Jetta for $1000. It's over the budget, but I'll have to take a look at it to see what condition it's in. My mom is paying anyways so I just have to convince her whatever price it is is reasonable.
My sister just turned 16.......

I learned on a friend's 89 toyota pickup. That truck rocked. It might be hard to find a decently working car for much less than $500, and even $500 is gonna be tough to let you find one.

I'm sure phat ham will let you borrow his E21 :P

Now that's a beater ;)

I'm eventually going to be in the market for one too (i think)... $500 - $1000, manual, a/c, 87octane, great mileage, durable engine.

It's supposedly $300 and in Reading PA (http://hondamarketplace.com/zerothread?id=1349954)

Edit: You MIGHT have to be a member of Honda-Tech to view that.

The link I posted was actually for a Mazda Protege 5 speed... but I'd prefer a Honda. Maybe I'll snatch that up, it's actually $300 or best offer. Then I can take Hampton on for $2006. :dunno

That Mazda is mightly tempting if it weren't for cylinder 3 not working. I'll run it by my mom to see what she says.

thanks,
Robert
