I was cruising at about 65 heading west on the southern state pkwy ( for those in NY)when this mustang got on the hwy. Thinking nothing of it i just kept moving through traffic till he comes up behind me playin me close, then he pulls next to me. Traffic slowed down so were going like 35-40 now, picture this he's on the right I'm in the middle lane, so now the right lane opened up an i move over an press it(the gas) then look in the mirror only to see him coming strong.Traffic slowed down an he pulls up next to me an i hear the supercharger whistling, i look over at him and give him a lil nod like ok ok its going down, I look over at my bro an he's holding on tight as im smiling. Now i see a opening an i jump on it as he follows cutting through traffic to open road, he was on my bumper till we started coming on a turn an i just pressed it harded coming round the turn. When i came round an looked up he was about 6 car lenghts behind, i slowed down till he was next to me, he went right at the fork(cross island pkwy) i went left to the (belt pkwy) to a friendly tut of each others horn. :redspot

not neccesarily, I have kept up with a s/c in a race. He had a passenger and I didin't and my car is several hundred pounds lighter. The peak hp doesn't tell you who will win a race.

Yea but this guy had 2 passengers and didn't mention any in the Mustang. I think the mustang wasn't pushing it.

yeah, I knew you needed 10 points. Like intake is like 1 or 2 points. Floor mats is like 1 point. But don't you have to have like every mods sans s/c to get the badge?

yeah, a 3.91lsd puts the auto m3, slightly ahead of a 5 speed stock e36 m3. With just the 3.38 that comes in it, the gears are far too long with the sluggishness of the auto. The Tranny chip does alot for autos I know. But the gearing still blows. I/E/C well that does a bit for the car. it is noticably quicker, but I dun think it is enough to compensate for a S/C. that body style mustang GT is on par with the e36 m3 5 speed.


Wait, I just thought of sumptin. Was it perhaps a v6 mustang with FI? I believe all of us are under the impression it was a GT which would make this story (well it already is) unbelievable. But if it was a V6 with S/C then it is pretty believable.

I think the assumption that the GT had a supercharger is the problem. I have owned SC'ed cars and crusing at 35-40 mph the SC'er couldn't be heard. Hell at 60-70 mph it wasn't even noticable. They are primarily heard at full throttle. A SC'ed GT 99-04 model is going to be running at least 12's.

the 95 isn't the best candidate in the world, for the premier mustangs. The 99-04 body was considerably quicker, than the oh so embarassing 94-98.

no, 94 & 95 were 5.0 (they had horizontal slats on the taillights). 96+ is the 4.6L (vertical slats on teh 96-98 body style).

1. Props on your car, hanging with a 03-04 Snake (especially to 120 mph) shows your car is no joke.

So have we stipulated whether or not it was a v6 or a GT? My 325is is no competition for my friends lightly modded 04 mustang 6 cylinder. I beat him every time by a fair amount no matter what speed we start at. Throwing a supercharger on one and comparing it to a lightly modded m3 sounds about right to me. I'd even give the m3 the upper hand.

I also have a 98 GT 4.6 with intake, exhaust, h pipe, pullies, ignition and differential that beats the 04 slightly modded v6 every time by a fair amount no matter what speed we start at.

you just have a few bolt ons... your engine is stock.

Either way, its a bit hard to believe that a v8 supercharged couldn't keep up with a stock m3 with a few bolt ons and a badge.

if it was a 6er, its possible but i've hear a great numbers from the 2000+ 6er with FI

like i'm driving a 95 6er right now (hate every moment of it) its a cow... even with FI that would put me with an m3 maybe? its a crappy 3.8L engine... they did better a few years down with 200 hp rather than 145 like the one i'm hauling around.

if you had t3h C0B4Lt you would have beat him by 5...THOUSAND cars...

This story is complete BS as told. A 99+ GT with a blower will spank you pretty hard. Like a nun spanking a little boy caught playing with himself in class. Lets break this down:

99+ stock GT: 3113lbs, 260bhp, 302ftlbs, 14.1@99, .87g
Your car stock: 3150lbs, 240bhp, 236ftlbs, 14.2@97, .91g

As you can see, the only thing your car is better at stock is handling, and not by much. Even with the smallest procharger or vortech running 6lbs of non-intercooled boost, the stang will have 100 horse on your ass (this takes into account your "mods"). And to put 6 car lengths through a turn having only marginally better suspension is pure, 100%, grade A bullsh*t, and you and everyone else on this site knows it. Unless this turn was a mile long and you were driving an enzo, then I'd believe you. Either you made this up, or the mustang wasn't racing you, or there's something you're forgetting to tell us.

so it was a s/c V6? Then that makes sense. That is something that was very pertinent to this story. When you say mustang, naturally poeple think GT. If you would've said V6 from the beginning, there wouldn't have been as much debating, discussing, and arguing.

:confused I didn't say you ahd to ask him for his dyno sheets. i just said you should've stated whether he was a v6 or a GT. You can normally tell that just by looking at the car. But also, often times, people discuss the race afterwards, while driving down the road, or pulling over to talk a bit.
