View Full Version : FS: Siastuning Electromotive TEC3 PnP OBDII
namike 08-22-2005, 02:51 PM Moderators please do not delete/move this thread.
The item I have forsale is a TEC3 Plug and Play for an OBDII E36 BMW for Siastuning.
I purchased this unit from Kaliboy on this forum less than a month ago. I actually have two of these units, and thus am going to sell one.
I would like $2000 shipped for the unit.
This unit has the appropriate MAP sensor for forced induction.
Pictures of the actual unit are here:

Thank you for your time.

Mechanic69 08-22-2005, 03:28 PM How hard is it to install this comuter and program the software?
namike 08-22-2005, 03:35 PM The unit installs in less than 15 mins. You are in California...have Vic Sias come tune it. He is the TEC3 expert.
guc32 08-22-2005, 09:31 PM Its not hard to install. Its PnP and you would have to hook up some wires and then get a base map and that is it. Yeah Vic is local so you can drive down here to have him tune it for you.

Yup I will fully support this kit to who ever buys it. A few details about this kit. The kit was build for a OBD2 car and CAN NOT be used for a ODB1 car. It is good for a 96-98 M3, 2.8L, 323, 328, or Mcoupe. It is the older Tec3 6/12 unit and if you want to have a nice idle you have to install a Electromotive IAC motor. Not sure if this kit is being sold with one or not. I can help you get one if not. The only real difference between this Tec3 and the Tec3R is that the R can NOW control the STOCK IAC motor with an adapter. Otherwise you can use the latest greatest Tec3R firmware and software for this older Tec3.
Good luck and hope this helps answer some questions.
Bad Bimr 08-22-2005, 11:24 PM I would like $2100 shipped for the unit.
Considering a brand new unit costs $2500 I think your asking price is a little high.
namike 08-22-2005, 11:47 PM Vic,
Thank you for joining into this thread. Your expertise is always welcome :buttrock
I think it is GREAT that Vic supports this unit, even second hand/third hand. That's how much he stands behind this product. That is also how things should work.
We need more vendors like Sias Tuning :alright
All prices are understood to be OBO. I have TWO of these units in my posession that I purchased 2nd hand off forum members. One *WILL* be going on my '98 M Roadster w/ a RMS Stage II kit 11 PSI, aftercooled, 8 rib, etc. etc. If for some reason it doesn't sell, I'll keep it around to put on a customers car when I open shop next year, or I'll build another E36 OBDII car, but this time with a turbo.
P.S. Vic, you never responded to my long-ass email I sent you :)

m3jasper 08-23-2005, 12:13 AM I'm curious in knowing if I choose to run the tec3r, will I be able to pas emissions. The reason I ask is because now in NY, tail-pipe sniffers are no more. The new way inspections get passed is thru a data-cable that gets plugged into the odb-2 port and scanned.
So in other words, would I be able to pass inspection?
TIA

In short no...the tec III does not send any obdII codes.
You would have to know someone..or switch back to the stock ECU for inspections.
kalib0y 08-23-2005, 02:49 AM Mike is a stand up guy and a great person to deal with!

namike 08-23-2005, 01:27 PM Bad Monkey,
I didn't even reply back to that post. I know what this unit is worth, like I said, if someone doesn't need it, then I will simply keep it, and build a project 328i turbo...a la Card Counter.
M3 Jasper,
That is the beauty of the PnP unit, you can EASILY switch back to your stock DME when the time comes for emmissions.

So basically once a year I would have to simply remove the Tec3R and plug in the stock dme and pass emissions without a problem. Would there be anything else associated with the re-install of the stock dme? I've heard that the tec3r uses its own coils? Sorry for my ignorance, not exactly sure about whats included with it. thanks again.

namike 08-23-2005, 02:49 PM Hey Dave,
The Plug and Play unit that Vic Sias Tuning puts together uses all the factory sensors/coils/etc. etc. The "install" is basically remove the factory DME, mount the included MAP sensor, put the PnP unit in the place where the stock DME went, and plug in the factory harness to the PnP Harness.

I highly recommend you visit ICS Performance in CT the next time Vic himself is in town, for a custom tune.

Mike,
Thanks for your help and patience with all of my questions. I just emailed Vic to see when he was coming back to town that way I could set it up so that he could tune my car while he does all the others at ICS. :redspot I'll PM you as soon as I here back from him. Thanks again for all your help.

Why even say that? asshole. :rolleyes
His asking price is EXTREEMELY reasonable.
goodluck with the sale! :)
Bad Bimr 08-24-2005, 01:22 AM Why even say that? asshole. :rolleyes
Because this is an open forum and I am allowed to say that. ALso some people do not really know what these things sell for. Hell I thought is was a great deal untill I found out the retail price is only $400 more at $2500. Also, keep the name calling for some-one you know.
His asking price is EXTREEMELY reasonable.
If 16% off new for a used part is a "EXTREMELY" good deal, then you buy it. Buying used is always a gamble. Their is always a chance the product may be bad. And what about warranty, does the used part have warranty? Is warranty and piece of mind worth only $400 more?
Lastly, my post was not intended to offend anyone. It was rather to educate some people just like me and let these people know what the product costs new. That's what I get with trying to help.
I am done with this thread. Good luck with the sale.

Any chance this will work on an OBDI M62 V8 in my 95 740? Also will it run custom individual manual TB's & TS FI for the same motor?

If you want to make your own wireing harness, sure.
namike 09-24-2005, 01:16 PM Bump, please!
Still here!
lkstaack 09-24-2005, 02:00 PM Anyone know if TEC 3 works with RaceLogic Traction Control?
namike 09-25-2005, 04:58 PM Since RaceLogic TC is a fully independent system, I don't see why it wouldn't work.
Bump $2000 shipped
namike 10-21-2005, 03:53 PM BUMP.
Many people on this forum can vouch for me. I am a 100% honest seller.
$2000 shipped for a like NEW Siastuning PnP TEC3. That's over 20% off. Vic Sias has already said in this thread he will provide full support to the buyer. You simply can't go wrong!
