What track events are people going to participate in?
I am willing to travel ... I see that MBCA is having a three day event at VIR in Sept. (mon-wed) -- but, not sure if I can take off those four days (m-th) ...
I would like to visit another track -- just to get some time seeing an unfamiliar track and trying to learn it quickly ... since, that will be happening at VIR.
Are there any other VIR days (on a weekend) that anyone is going to ... and possibly would like to caravan/go together. Alternatively, if there are other tracks, let me know as well ...

When is the O-fest practice? If I'm still down there, I'd be happy to ride with you (if it's allowed). I've figured out how to get around there reasonably quickly.

club race is 17th-18th (sat./sun). Do you have any in-car video nick that I could watch?
Any tips (besides don't lift in the esses (not even sure where the heck they are) ... :stickoutt
Do you have suggestions turn by turn? I think Wong"er" is going to find some in-car video as well ...

Well, I'll be there taking the racing school. :)
Here's video from Grand East, so there's a lot of extra track in here:
http://video.nrubenstein.com/nickcam.avi
I was also slow in the video as my tires were LITERALLY falling apart by then.
Turn 1 is a LATE turn in. Wait until you feel like you're going to run off the track, then wait a little longer, and THEN turn in.
Turn 3 (NASCAR) is fast, you've just got to enter it properly.
Turn 4 is a bit of a throwaway, you need to come out of it tight to the left side, and you'll want to go through either at the top of the curbing, or over int he dirt, depending on your aggressiveness. You've got a soft suspension, so take advantage of it.
Exit turn 5 way out on the curbing.
Through the little esses, just jump the curbs and straightline it WOT.
I've picked 105 as a good entrance speed in the big esses (this is also approximately equivalent to WOT all the way otu of turn 4 in the 323). Not too aggressive, but not too slow, either. I usually exit around 110 in the 323. You need to look up at the top, and you're going to need to start turning the wheel around the apex of the turn before the one you're entering.
Turn 10 at the top of the hill is FAST, and EARLY. You have to practice this one, because you can't look ahead to the proper turn in point. If you can see the exit, you're way too late and way too slow. Do NOT lift without straightening the wheel here. If you must go off, go right, don't spin left.
Oak Tree, I still keep fucking up. I keep turning in late and not getting up on the curbing on the inside. You should eb able to shake the corner worker's hand.
I'm nto really goign to comment on the rest since I haven't worked up the courage to do it anywhere in the vicinity of what I'd call properly.

Ill see what I can diig up James... I think KJ has my last VIR video.
I dunno about following Nick's video though.. unless you like curb hopping :stickoutt I dont agree with his methods of curb hopping through 4... I'd rather lift/brake-steer through there.

I need to do some testing. I suspect that the benefits of that method probably also depend on how much power you've got. When my tires were "good," I could go WOT out of there all the way to the top of the esses without issue.
In an M3 with no traction, it certainly wouldn't get you more speed in turn 5.

there are multiple ways to negotiate T4...depending on who is around you and if anyone is trying to take the inside for a pass or you are overtaking someone in that corner...depending on the case. it's a slow corner relatively speaking but it is an important corner because it sets up a critical section of track.
James...the MB event may be your best bet since it's the weekdays just before ofest. just go down for a day or so if you want to get some laps in before the race weekend...remmember that the race weekend holds plenty of practice sessions for sprints and the enduro each with separate quals (2 sprints and an enduro) so you'll have time to get ready down there.
