Just the other night, after hitting a couple of clubs with a couple of my friends, we were heading back to Downtown to meet some more people to grab a bite. Driving down Storrow Drive a little after 2 am, [it was a 2 lane road with no lights] this new GTI passes me and then a new 4Runner. I decide to match him and see if anything is up. I catch up to the GTI leave it in 3rd and see what would happen...before I know it, he punches it! :) I do too, gained a litttle over a car length on him by the top of 3rd [launched from about 55mph] but then there was traffic up ahead, a car in each of our lanes. The third outside lane was clear, but we would had to go there and cut back in b/c that was an exit only lane. Since I had backed off by now, his rear was to my hood, but before I know it, he started leaning his car towards my lane :eek: Keeping it in 3rd I floored it and took the third lane and quickly cut back inside, he follows suite and we both take the next exit. I wait for him to line up at the light and roll down the passengers side window...it was some small asain guy and with his tiny gf next to him. I weigh 230, which looked like was the combined weight for both of them, plus I had my two friends in the car, both average. Anyway, the kid in all excitement asks "Is that an M3????" lol, I started laughing, I say "you wish!" ;) Then he asks about mods, I tell him none and he says he has a BOV. I was like great, but my car is still faster then your car. He got pissed and we started messing around in the city. We get to this light, he was first and I was right behind him, we were both reving, my DSC shut off, light turns green and we are off! I quickly go to his left, max first, got to his drivers side door, by the top of second had gained a least another car if not more. It was a true spanking and up ahead the light turns yellow. I slam the brakes and stop, he flies throught it. There was a Boston Police sitting at the red light :D my friends and I started laughing our behinds off when the police went after him. His friends in the 4Runner pull up next to us and saw us laughing, we told them what happened, and the driver was like "that's my boy!" I say "well his not too smart is he?" And we continue to laugh. One of the rear seat passenger was commenting on my car and was like is that an M3? Here we go again, no it's a 330ci, like it says in the back! I said thank you, and explained it was a 330 ci, not i, etc.

I guess people don't really know the power of a new M3, and the kid in the Golf thought cool, I got beat by a really fast car :lol Fun night, good times. :)

Also what does the C on ci mean? On e36 I think it meant vert, but doesn't hold true on e46.

He was a pretty nice guy, but was being stupid. I actually really like the Golf GTI and the R32, I love VW's in general. We had little time to chat, and he would not admit, even though I beat him, his car was slower.

He probably had the 1.8T 180hp engine...I don't know why he got a BOV though, I didn't think those gave any power increases...

C stands for coupe. The Cic in the convert. but it still says Ci in the back. :)

BOV doesn't add power. Just the sound. Also I believe from what the audi/vw guys have said on here, is that it is actually bad for it. Because when it blows off, the car runs really lean for a bit, due to it blowing all air out. The only time you need a BOV is when you are pushing a ton of pressure (like 20+ psi)

Good kill. Sounds like a dumb GTI driver to me, and the 330 is very nice.

I have a 2003 GTI turbo, and the 330 bmw is quick.

Nope a BOV does not do anything for performance, you have to completely upgrade the turbo to a garrett 28rs, injectors, FMIC, and Revo chip. Then its 300 or so HP.

My 79 323i is getting a custom 2.8 liter stroker with knife edged 524td crank, and I live in Boston and would like to race you...

Cool man. What part of Storrow were you running on? I've caught a few races along the BU area strip of it, then right around Comm Ave through Allston (right by where I live)- usually cruising around late night after the clubs and bars. Maybe I've seen you cruising around. :)

...and I live in Boston and would like to race you...

Well........when a kid buys a 1.8t solely for the turbo, and makes his only mod a BOV, solely for the k3wl!11!!!one11!!! sound, it becomes rice. Especially when it hurts the engine. He would be better off getting the fake BOV sound making speaker to put in his engine bay.

Yeah, I was around that area, after you pass the Fenway exit and go under the bridge, it becomes 3 lanes. So we ran from under the bridge and on, then got off at the Boston Common exit that's in the tunel. Maybe you have, but I doubt you ever seen me cruising, I usually fly around ;)

If that was me commenting on ur car than it would have been joke on you. To be an a$$ i ask people with lower model car if its the higher one. Thats just me being an a$$ but they may not be like that. :cool Or i ask people with Lexus ES300 if they enjoy their camery....

lol, I do that too. I call a Lexus a Toyota all the time. You can tell the guys were just clueless. Maybe b/c I have M/// License Plate Frames...Not trying to show I have a M3, those were the only frames I really liked and think went well with the car, plus they match well with the M wheels. :) There is a guy in my area that has a 330ci and he has rebadged it with M3...looks so stupid and just aggravates me.
