View Full Version : The RACECARS were too fast for my camera...
Biggins 08-21-2005, 08:35 PM I showed up Saturday to corner work on Shenandoah, but there were plenty of BSR guys so I went with a couple other would-be flaggers to watch the NJ events on the main circuit for most of Saturday. I took a few pics, but my camera is WAY too old and too slow for all those FAST RACECARS.
Sorry, but no pics from Shenandoah...

Biggins 08-21-2005, 10:45 PM I was skimming the pics that RRT/you? posted in the track forum. I wish I could have stayed longer, but everyone seemed to invade my nice and cool place under the tree after lunch. I didn't make it back today.
What were your impressions after your first competition weekend Wonger? You seemed to be pretty smooth out there when I was watching. I'm hoping that tire in your pics wasn't one of yours.
The yellow IP #000 seemed to be haulin' ridiculously fast when I was watching. The E46 M3 (I'm assuming with V8 power?) was insane fast and I wish I would've seen it down the straight.

Naw.. wasnt my tire... Not sure where that was from.
It was a blast! I cant wait till the next one. You know what they say though.. when youre slow, you tend to be smooth :stickoutt
#000 was blazing fast. It was his first race too... I spoke with him at the rookie meeting and a tthe end of the day today also. He's got that thing cammed out on a 3.2L and he is runnign a 3.64 diff (not sure of the lockup). In comparison, I had a measly 3.0 w/ the stock 3:15 diff :( Ah well... I'll get em at VIR :redspot :buttrock
Phat Ham 08-21-2005, 11:56 PM The E46 M3 (I'm assuming with V8 power?) was insane fast and I wish I would've seen it down the straight. You should've seen his tow vehicle

:lol
1996 328ti 08-22-2005, 06:47 AM You should've seen his tow vehicle :eek:But no extra tire? :dunno:
I had him as an instructor. A helluva nice guy.
jkuper 08-22-2005, 07:17 AM But no extra tire? :dunno:
Is that why he dropped out of enduro?
1996 328ti 08-22-2005, 07:33 AM Is that why he dropped out of enduro?
Yep. I saw him leave as I was pulling in on Sunday morning.
First front right tire had a flat spot and was corded. All he had were worn tires in the trailer. I guess nothing good enough to run on.
m3ltw98 08-22-2005, 01:46 PM The E46 M3 with the V8 was ridiculously slow and dangerous out on the track. Not only would he lockup the brakes constantly, he was constantly spinning in turn 5 and losing it in turn 1. With that car, he should be doing 1:14s at Summit. Just a case of too much horsepower and too little talent. Nobody had any love for the 098 C-Mod car in the pictures??
dmwhite 08-22-2005, 02:03 PM It was a blast! I cant wait till the next one.
glad to hear you had fun and kept the car in one piece ;)

so, when are you getting a new diff? a 3.64 would help you sooo much...
also, i might have some schricks available pretty soon if you're interested...

HRM... I might need those cams over the winter :) What are you getting in place of them? Sunbelt?

LOL!! Yeah, you do look funny there, Jason. :stickoutt

He wasn't going anywhere from the pack for the first few laps.
I saw you with Barry, Adam, and Steve early on Sat. while you were trying to start the thing, guess it was okay by the afternoon.
Shennandoah is the schnizt! :alright :redspot :buttrock

lol :) ...I think there will be more than a few schrick cam sets available on the market come winter...it'll be a good time for track guys to pick up cams...I was wanting to go the Sunbelt route also over the winter....just wanna make sure there is no controversy regarding their legality in prepared before I would invest in a set...

hehe, maybe i should try to sell mine quick before the market gets flooded ;)
as far as the legality in prepared, from what i've seen lately on the CR list, it doesnt seem like there are going to be any rule changes with regards to cams...
vjlax18 08-23-2005, 10:07 AM And some really smart people do NOT trust the Sunbelt cams reving past the normal 7200 with stock lifters... It's not a matter of the lift of the cam, but a matter of the lifters being asked to do too much. I guess there will be a lot of people pulling valves, rings, and pistons out of there mufflers soon enough.

OTOH, do you still get power gains with the Sunbelts at 7,200 RPMs?
vjlax18 08-23-2005, 10:19 AM Maybe we'll know when there are REAL comparable dyno's out there. :dunno
Schricks do make power that high.
dmwhite 08-23-2005, 10:45 AM hp from the schricks starts falling off around 6700 rpm and the tq made steadily decreases from around 5800 rpm on up (in my motor)...
i'll have apples to apples dynos shortly after i get my car back...
as far as the being able to rev higher with the sunbelt cams...there are some reputations on the line if they cant safely rev to 7500 rpm on stock internals....
vjlax18 08-23-2005, 10:51 AM The schricks can make power that high. They do not need to be installed staight up.
dmwhite 08-23-2005, 11:03 AM is it safe to rev them past 7k? arent there concerns about valve float?
mlytle 08-23-2005, 11:57 AM there was a big thread on the sunbelt cams in the track forum recently...
a simple search revealed;

sunir 08-23-2005, 02:12 PM The schricks can make power that high. They do not need to be installed staight up.
the key is installation and who is doing work on the motor...Doby and I know the right guy for the job :)
vjlax18 08-23-2005, 02:16 PM James had mentioned that they were going to use stiffer springs for the 9k rpm motors with hydrolic lifters... I guess that's to stop valve float...
