I think Matt (MattE21) makes/made them. I was thinking that I might want to purchase one later on down the road.

Since this is about CAI's i thought i asked if anyone know how to make one for the m20 6cylinder. There's some kind of electrical air flow meter before the intake box. Sorry about my wording. I'm kind of tired right now. Thanks

you can't be a ricer without a new intake and some subs...

Both were done as experiments, and to see if it could be done. I love trying my hand at lots of different things, wether it be pipe bending or fiberglass and electrical work. Unique and schnazzy if you ask me! ;)

I actually like your designs. I must compliment you on them. The custom trunk bit is nice. I'm a poor high school student so I can only afford one sub, but I'd buy a piece like that if you made them. And the CAI with shield. Excellent. The heatshield is one of the things that is overlooked on many CAI kits, the entire point of a CAI is lost if it can get air from the engine compartment.
Anyways, if you still have one, how much? It'll probably be awhile, seeing as how I have A: no money B: no job C: no car that runs...

I have a CAI ready to go, and the trunk was a one off, so i cant reproduce that.

id be interested too, i already have a k&n filter so how much would it be just for the tubing and heatshield?

MattE21

the kits i sell are just for the steel intake pipe and the heat shield. K&n's can be found most anywhere, and at various prices. the kit is $80 shipped

With your kit does the batt have to be in the trunk?

It has to be relocated somewhere as the intake tubing runs right through the stock battery location. You can buy a rear strut tower brace from top end performance that comes with everything to relocate the battery to the trunk.

http://www.racetep.com/rbrace.html

or just run it back there yourself without the strut brace.

actually, I met a guy in portland with an e21 who relocated his bat to the trunk, but instead of a strut, he bought a $20 casing and straps. Its a cheaper route, but the struts probibly hold a ton better.

How much better is the driving with a CAI on a 320? Im kinda torn between going turbo (expensive...but fun!) or just doing a cheaper CAI. :help

JC72
08-26-2005, 03:36 AM
a CAI is going to give you nothing compared to a turbo....you ::might:: notice the difference with just a cold air intake but you would definately notice the increase with a turbo...i would guess you might get 5hp out of a cold air intake on a m10 but a turbo could gain you about 60hp....

:rolleyes

CAI=$50= No Gain (slightly, but you wont notice it)
Turbo=$3000= HUGE Gain

And your torn between what again....

i wont lie, a CAI on an M10 will do nothing other than sound cool, and whistle at certain throttle positions.
