I've got my 74 '02 back together with rebuilt head and everything, but now it won't fire. :mad

I've got no spark whatsoever. It's probably something dumb that I'm just not familiar with. I tried cleaning out all the contacts with a file and contact cleaner. Next I just need to diagnose each part and figure out whats not working.
I've never really worked with this kind of ignition system before, and don't know how to diagnose each part. If anyone is bored tomorrow and wants to stop by Makiki, please let me know. I can't wait to get this car back together, but damn this is annoying.

edit: oops, put this in the wrong forum. Meant to go in local forum. Let me know if you have any advice, though.

You said you moved the motor with the head off when you were putting wheels on. Have you reset the timing? No. 1 Cylinder at TDC with the rotor button in the dizzy at No. 1 plug lead? With all the head work the timing would have changed, a small amount, but you should start at the basics, TDC, dist, leads, plugs check them all.
Good luck. Beaner7102

yep, checked that. Tried arcing coil to block, and that worked OK with like 1/2" spark. I got new plug wires on it. Next I gotta try new cap, rotor, condenser, and maybe new coil if mine is too weak.

I'm replacing everything tonight. I bought a new blue coil, points, condenser, cap, and rotor for $55 today, in stock. :) I love the parts store here....

It appears I have a rev-limiting rotor, but I'll be replacing it with a normal one. Whats the deal with a rev-limiting one, and could internal stuff on it have been screwing me up?

OK, I replaced everything, and I got fire now.... :cool

but no fuel. :(

Starter fluid or gas in the carb will get it to turn over, but the glass in-line filter is bone dry, even after crankin it hard for quite a while.
It sounds like the fuel pump is workin since I hear puffs of air, but not pullin hard enough to prime the system.
I just bought a primer bulb, some new fuel line, and an electric universal fuel pump. The fuel pump is a last resort, and I may just save it for my other car.
How hard would it be to permanently put in the electric pump? Would I need a regulator?
The pump was $40, and provides 1.5 to 5 psi/25 gph.
I'll try priming it first with the bulb in the trunk, then see if it's enough to get the mechanical fuel pump started.

Oh, and does anybody know what size the fuel lines are? I bought 5/16" stuff as a guess, as 3/8" looked too big.
