I'm getting ready to do my water pump in a e46. The water pump I got from the dealer has a plastic/composite impeller. Do I need to take this back and insist on one with a metal impeller?
I've read more than a few posts about plastic impellers coming apart. Is this just a problem with earlier pumps or a certain batch?

New composite is better than metal. The threads about plastic impellers coming apart are referring to WP's from pre 96.
