hey 5 series fellas, Im thinking of getting an e28 535i for my next car. does anyone know how it would compare to my present car a e30 323i. What are the advantages\disadvantages of the e28 to the e30

I've got an E28 535i w/ 285,000 mi and still going strong. The 5 speed works great and its got tons of torque. I love my car.

I've got a 528e and have only had very minor electrical problems with it up to this point. It's got 120K miles and rides like it's brand new. I've had other bimmer owners in my car, and have gotten many compliments. Most replacement parts are readily available, and I've had no problems locating mod parts for my car either.

I would reccommend bringing any cars you look at to a mechanic to inspect before you buy, though. No matter what, the E28 is still an older car and is bound to have some issues to address unless it's been kept immaculate.

Yeah the 323 is a really nice car. Probably has more mod options too. Hell, I haven't seen too many bimmers that are ugly. I guess it all comes down to a matter of taste....or finances.

yeah i love my 323 but I rolled it and although it is back on the road now the chassie is twisted and so it is going to wear tyres out like nobodys buisness and have all other sorts of problems.

I can vouch for the e34, I think as far as drag racing he e28 is the same..and a lot of mods

An E28 535i isn't as tossable as an e30, but is a very nice and fun car, especially as a 5-speed. The are far more choices for wheels, suspension, etc. and the M30 motor is pretty much one of the most reliable motors ever made (by BMW or anyone else).

Other than a little less of a go-kart feel, the only other drawback might be fuel consumption, but it isn't too much off your 323i.

I love my 528e have had it for 6 months now and nothing wrong yet with 175,000 miles. and it slow as hell its a great DD, When my gf and I go out to dinner the valet always parks it out front. When i want to go fast I uncover the e36 and go like hell.

Sweet deal you got there! Just don't trash it and you will have a car for life.
