Glad to hear that Tom and the Porsche driver were ok... Looked like a pretty good hit.

What happened? The Porsche seemed to be way off the pace and didn't bother looking in his mirrors before moving over into Tom.

Wow, hope all are OK. Im sure both drivers were wearing HANS devices. I recently picked one up and would never go out on track again without it on.

i saw the same #21 car crash at laguna seca. but that wasn't anywhere near the speed as this. i was hoping it wouldn't be 21 again. was that the big race or qualifying? if it wasn't the race he'll probably just share another car again to complete the race.

It was the race, otherwise it wouldn't have been on TV.

I'm ok. My neck was a bit sore that night and my knee took a good shot and has been sore since the accident.

The 41 was going really slow and I caught him faster than I had anticipated. I had a split second to make a decision and it looked to me like he was going to give me enough room to get by. He was wide of the normal line through the esses there and it didn't appear like he was going to tuck in right behind the DP. I made the move to the inside and slowly the gap got smaller and smaller. I'm not sure how fast I was going when I hit the wall, but right there we were right at the top of 5th gear which is probobly 110-120 so I didn't scrub much speed after I tangled with the Porsche.

I took a look at the 41's left side after the race and the only damage I could see was a bent rim. So for some reason I lost my entire right front wheel which obviously left me helpless. I just took my hands off the wheel and prepared myself for a huge hit.

I had the wind knocked out of me for a good bit and it seems like my knee hit the center console and knocked it clean out of way into the passenger side of the car.

The worst part is the car is junk which is the last thing we need. There have been way too many significant accidents this year with our cars. So the plan is for Bill and I to split up into the 17 and 22 for Mid-Ohio and have a new car ready for Phoenix, where thankfully we have split races from the DP's.

Glad to hear you're doing good. Sucks that my cable provider does not carry speed channel anymore, anyone know a site or a torrent site I can download the whole race from?

Wow...awesome footage and that really was a "big hit". Again, glad to hear you're ok. That's an impressive level of racing.

I worked with that Porsche Team when they were "Planet Earth Motorsports" and driving a Corvette. Nice folks, I'm sure it wasn't intentional. We busted our butts all weekend doing 3 engine swaps and then a clutch the morning of the race. They got started about 45 min late and then got ran over by another Vette on their first lap of the race.

Looks like their luck hasn't improved much.
