Neither of these cars are mine but i thought i share. So about a week ago i was on my up to Reno, NV for the Annual Hot August Nights. My dad and I are restoring a 72 El Camino so we went up there to look for some parts. Any ways we were cruising in the Cadi at about 80 when we see an all black SVT mustang roaring past us. We can hear the supercharger wining and the loud borla exhaust. He flies past us and stays about 4CL ahead. About 20min later we see a Silver Audi A4 with a ski rack in a hurry and flies past us. I see him riding the Mustang and i see them both take off. I can hear the mustang downshift but the Audi just kept gaining and gaining until it was out of sight. The mustang shutdown. I never knew how fast the Audi's were until that experience.

hm 99's dont come with a supercharger.. unless he added it :/

Let me put this one together....

The only way the 2.8 a4 has any chance against even an stock mustang SVT is if the mustang was older and the audi had a supercharger.

Even with the superchager, the audi only puts down 300chp (max and 30v only), and they barely trap 100mph.

Something about the facts you provided is wrong. Unless the stang didn't downshift in to the proper gear, there's no way to explain this. 2.8's are slow.

Are you SURE it was a 2.8, or did you just assume? Also, you're sure it was the older (B5) pre-2002 chassis?

But only 03+ cobras came with S/C, unless it was aftermarket.

Sorry for all the confusion guys. The Audi looks just like mmart's. And the mustang was an 02 or 03. I assumed it was a 2.8 but now i'm remembering that i heard a BOV when he came past. So it was the 1.8T with mods. I know the odds were to the mustang but i know what i seen. The mustang downshifted and they both took off. It was probably the driver in the stang because he looked in his 40's. Sorry again for my ignorance

There are 2.8L 30V or 12V V6 A4s (1996-2001 B5 platform), but unless supercharged it would lose to a 99' Cobra supercharged or not.

I call :bs . What you just said changed the entire story. First you said it was a 99 cobra, now ur saying 02-03. You also stated it was a 2.8, now your saying that you remember hearing a BOV? How can you forget hearing something like a BOV? And that it wasnt a 2.8 but instead a 1.8.....please... video or ban!

no i knew they had 2.8 N/A a4's. I was just saying a cobra getting beat by a 2.8. But thanks for more info. :)

chances are it was an S4....

i beat my friends A4 2.8 everytime from any start... from a stop, roll, highway, twisties...

An Audi B5 A4 2.8 supercharged is a little less HP than a stock B5 S4. Stock B5 S4 will die to a SVT Cobra, so my take is that the Audi is not a real 2.8 sueprcharged, but a A4 1.8T stage III K04 Turbo pumping over 350HP at the wheels.
