View Full Version : Got pulled over!!
neeCo 08-15-2005, 03:12 PM Alright guys, it finally happened to me! :mad i got pulled over by a cop this morning. he supposedly pulled me over for "no front license plate" and "tinted windows." when i got the car a year ago, the windows were already tinted (not very dark, prolly like 35%) and we both got the front and back plates, but it jus doesn't look good with it in the front :rolleyes well anways, i have to put on a plate in the front and show them i have it on and appear in court for the tint. Can i just tell the judge that the tint was already there when we bought the car, so it wasn't my fault that it was tinted? Or will that story not stick up with the judge? I'll go ask my uncle for advice later on too, since he's a lawyer. ;) Any input on what to do? Thanks in advance!
ALSO, i think the cops here have been targeting us! One time a police cop follwed me all the way home and turned around the coldy-sac(?) and a cop followed my mom in her 525i while dropping my brother off to schoool. Even in my dad's e30 he was followed by a cop going home. iOno, maybe im just paranoid from what just had happend.

If your from Delano, you're probably flip.
They're just profiling you...that's all. Welcome to real life.
BiMMa b0i M3 08-15-2005, 06:15 PM yeah it happens all the time around here too. if your vietnamese and drive a honda/acura/toyota then youll get a ticket, thank god i am not viet and that I dont drive a rice rocket.
D_ALPINE_M 08-15-2005, 06:16 PM Hey I know a few peeps in delano.... As for your tint it doesn't matter whether you got it with the car. i was in the same shoes and all I told the police station was that i removed it and got my ticket signed off.

You really think to a white cop you look all that different from a Viet? :lol
BiMMa b0i M3 08-16-2005, 01:01 AM yeah true, they racially profile here like no other. all good though, i dont have a fart can exhaust and I do not speed around here due to the fact that I cant since everyone here drives about 10-15 under the speed limit

eh, too hot to drive around town. i met up with the "racers" at k-mart where a r32 skyline was the main attraction, but didn't go to races. had work the next day. :(

i don't know how they can jus profile me, coz i know im not the onlee flip in this town. majority of this town are mexicans and pilipinos. and this town is full of fart can imports and loud domestics.

you didn't have to show them that you removed it?
toyomaz 08-16-2005, 03:21 AM just pay my ticket for the same reasons here in south cali, $180.00 had to remove my tint plus put my fugly front plate, as soon as i got it inspected, went back to the tint shop got them tinted darker!
neeCo 08-16-2005, 03:22 AM my uncle told me to go to a tint shop and ask them if my windows are legal and if they are, to have them write something and show it to the judge on my court date. will that work? :help
RotaryBzzz 08-16-2005, 04:32 AM The other option is to find a E36 that's wrecked/ parting out, get the doorglass, swap it in...get the ticket fixed then swap em' back.
Alittle bit of effort but not more than $20 per side of 92 318i glass.
themadhatter 08-16-2005, 05:56 AM the fact that they were tinted by the PO means nothing to the judge or cop. they care about how the car is setup today and the issues with it's legality are inherited by you.
as for the front plate, I can't see why you're complaining, it's the law, you knew that it was illegal. sure it's a buzzkill but there really isn't any way around it unless you want to risk getting pulled over often.

I agree it is just like waving hello to a cop saying I want a ticket. No offense to Demised......But as for my tint I didn't have to show it all they asked me was that did you remove it. All I had to say was yes.
The-Great-328ic 08-16-2005, 12:30 PM It's a conspiracy against your family I tell you :devillook
lol, well it sucks man. I was pulled over for tint too, and I had to remove it :(
Mechanic69 08-21-2005, 06:06 AM If you really want to get away with tinted windows, do what my friend did. Go to you doctor and get him to write you a note saying the bright sunlight gives you headaches and that you need your windows tinted. It worked for my friend and it is worth a shot.
Buhbuh 08-21-2005, 06:29 AM I had 5% tint on for awhile when i lived in encitas and not 2 weeks in living in esco i get a ticket for it. When i was getting my tint ticket written off, i had to show them that the tint was taken off. I also asked the cop what tint is legal, he replyed with NO tint on the front windows is legal. I have now had 35-40% i think on the windows for bout 4 months and no pullovers because of it.

I have 35% on the front aswell, with 5% back, the front in my opinion isn't noticable enough to warrant the cop to even notice or care most of the time.
And I just put my front plate on finally, for my trip to Vegas, didn't want to get stopped for anything, so I played it safe. I think I'm just going to leave the plate on for the peace of mind of knowing a cop can't just use that to pull me over at his leisure. It really doesn't look all that bad, and like I said its just nice not having to worry about something little like that everytime a cops around. I think the look of front plate for some strange reason will grow on me :confused
bimmerboi330 08-21-2005, 03:30 PM Yeah I guess all of us will eventually get used to no tint and front plates. I wish they would at least let us use Euro style plates but with our real numbers on the front. For that look because North American Plates really dont look as good.
