As the story goes, my cousin and I were on our way to Penn State for the weekend to meet up with my uncle and play some golf. The minute he told me that he was bringing his RX8 I had a smile ear to ear.

No, on to the goodies....

First stoplight we encounter I hear him rev his engine, not taking him seriously I look up and the light goes green. His wheels churp, so I just let off the clutch and floor it. Of course since had gotten no launch what so ever, he pulled half a cl right off the line. But what is this? First gear is coming to a close and I'm pulling even. Bang, right into second, we are dead even. As second starts to peak I've pulled half a car on him. I slam it into 3rd, he starts to creep back up, but then we have to shut it down at about 75. So 0-75 with a terrible launch BMW 1 - Mazda 0

So we cruise for a while, when I decide to push it. We are going 80, I notice that there is no traffic in site and proceed to downshift to 4th and pound the throttle. I fly past him at 100, I can hear him downshift as I pass. 105, 110, 115, I look back and HE IS GAINING! 120, 125, he pulls even and passes me at 130. I shut it down, as does he. 80-130 the RX8.
BMW 1 - Mazda 1

Nothing like some good old competition between family....

damn, in all honesty I'm amazed you even beat him down low. I know they are high revving, and get their power higher up, I just figured he would've grabbed the lead and held it all the way through. Sounds like a good race though.

I couldn't agree more. I was shocked that I kept with him at all. If we would have gone through another gear off the line he would have started walking. thank God for torque.... :D
