Okay, so there I was minding my own business driving down I-95 on my way home to eat some dinner. Then all of a sudden I notice some HIDs coming up on me in my rear view. (sorry, but honestly this is what happened). Actually I thought it was fake HIDs because they didn't have that usual projector sparkle, but finally he got near, and I realized it was a 350z. I think it was lowered maybe. But I'm not sure.

I speed up a bit, and he does too, I pass some cars and he follows on my tail, so finally I get to a clearing and whip to the far right lane, He is in left. He looks over and I motion with my hand in the shape of a pistol and point forward, he gives me a thumbs up. I upshift, and I think he does too. I was waiting for him to go, I didn't want to get the jump, I keep looking over and I see him take a puff of his cigarette. After getting a bit impatient, I give just a bit of gas, to show me move forward, then he punches it. I follow suit, but he got the jump and managed to get his rear bumper to my front fender or so. We go for a bit, but not much happened, there were a few cars, so we kept backing off. Finally get we through that little pack.

When we made it through I was ahead, because that pack he slowed down some, so I got back to the right lane and slowed down, but he was still on the gas, he was approaching quick and I realized he wasn't gonna ease off, so I nail it, and luckily I guess I ended up matching his speed when he got slightly ahead of me. Not much, but once I stopped his momentum, he probably had his rear bumper to my front bumper. We stayed on the gas, and he didn't pull at all. If he did it wasn't enough to notice. I wound out 4th gear to 6500rpms, and then we had to lay on the brakes because we finally approached the next pack of traffic.

As we manuevered through traffic, I finally got next to him, and we exhanged thumbs up, a little ways down the road he got off 1 exit before me. Was a cool guy, I'm assuming it was bone stock. Since he didn't pull on me. The race was pretty much even. I have a Rogue Engineering DMS Exhaust and a Racing Dynamics CAI. That is it for go fast mods.

Is that your car in sig? Am I crazy or is a right driver?

I'm the most mature? :confused :lol3

But thanks man. Yes that is my car. hahaha, no it's not a right hand drive, it is a mirror shot. My buddy did it with his driver side mirror while driving down I-270 leaving MD. That is why there is a bluish tint, and smudges all over the picture. That was like finger prints on his mirror. My friend asked me why I don't just mirror it to flip it to left hand drive, and I said becuase I'm too lazy. :D

But yes, those little mods is what I think made me stay even, isntead of him edging me out. It makes it justifiable I guess. ;)

I have a few run ins with the 350z's from about 50-90...and it seemed like I had a little more pull (not much), and that they couldn't pull away from me...(I'm 100% stock).

So maybe their mid-range power isn't stronger than ours:dunno?

Were you expecting him to pull on you more?

Great Run. I had the same thing happened to me friday about 5 in the morning on my way home from downtown. He came behind me so fast I thought he was going to hit me. He went around me then i followed him. I was behind him and he got in wot mode and so did I and i just ended up going around him. I honestly thought they were faster than that since they all claim its a drivers race with the 350z and the e46m3.

Thanks for explaining about the sig. I was like wtf he is driving on the right side. :D

auto pilot, I did expect him to pull more. They say they edge out the e36 m3. But I forgot I had a few mods. Also with his willingness to race, I figured he was modded. But also when he came up from behind me, while gunning, i was amazed I stopped his pull.

redfoot, i can accept that one. ;)

Bimmer, I always hear it is a drivers race with a e36 m3. They say it goes like 350z>e36 m3>g35 with the advantages being minimal. But I dunno, I just still expected to get beat. :)

So I guess...Not bad for a couple Mid 90's cars :buttrock

I had similar results with a black 350z on my way to work, on a 10-70mph roll. He was behind and I noticed when he gunned it, so I did too.

After changing into 3rd near redline I checked my mirror and he was in the exact same spot as before, or close enough to not really matter. I didn't think it was a conclusive race, because it was short and in all honesty I did not know how hard he was trying.

But stock, I don't think they're that fast in a straight line.

It's gearing.

The 350Z runs out of 4th at 114mph, while the BMW 3 series (depending on trim) will run out of 4th between 125mph-138mph, and run out of third between 90mph and 100mph.

So between 85mph to 100mph, an E36 M3 should be even with the 350z because the 350Z will need to upshift to 4th. 115mph on, the 350z will pull on ya, just like it will pull on you between 0-50 mph.

really on 3 series or just M3? it makes sense for the M because they have an extra grand of RPM. my 2nd tops out at just under 60mph, 3rd at around 80mph. i dont think my clutch slips because ive checked multiple times going 20mph in 5th.

my 2nd goes to right at abut 60 +/- 1or 2 mph. My 3rd to about 95 +/-. 4th, I'm not actually sure. By that time, I stopped looking at exact numbers, and mor the road, and occassional glance at tach. But it is 125-138 :)

My second gear goes to 80 :D

Ive had one experience running against a 350z in my Cobra. The Z had intake, exhaust and pullies. Not sure if it was crank pulley or underdrive.

Anyways we did 3 runs from 60. The best run with us both starting out perfectly lined up and neither getting a jump happened with me immediatley pulling about half a car and slowly pulling to almost a full car length to about 90ish. Then he stopped my pull and very very slowly crept closer and closer to me until he had got back the car length lead I had and and put one of his own on. So by the time we shut down he had a 1 car lead when we shut down at about 135.

I couldnt believe it that he pulled on me in my third gear with the pedal completely mashed. He never pulled during any of my shifts so Im at least happy about that. The ssk does wonders compared to the horrible stock shifter.

Everyone who watched the race was very surprised at the outcome because they all thought my car was pretty quick top end. I gotta give props to the Z for
a great race. :buttrock

I just bought my G35 6-speed coupe and so far the mid to high range
speed are incredible. It pulls real strong from about 3000 RPM and up.
Redline occurs at 7000. I'm still breaking it in, but so far I love it. I've
not been able to really get on it yet. Breakin is 1200 miles according
to the dealer.

Out of the hole, my modded 328i is quicker. I have a feeling that
after 1st and into 2nd my 328 would be quickly passed.

Sorry to rain on your parade giterdone, but any fool can mash their right foot to the floor and drive in a straight line or weave through traffic while "racing" some other loser. How about some kill stories where there are some actual turns and where real driving ability is required. I have these types of runs too, but they are hardly worth reporting on. How about posting something about how your driving ability alone enabled you to pound on a superior car? If you lack the aforementioned driving ability, at least make some s**t up. Thanks.

Superior car? Like an S4?

I'll let you guys fight that one out.

Two nights ago, I ran into a 350Z at about 65mph on GA400N (runs north out of Hot'lanta) about a mile below a row of toll booths. We both pulled into the tolls simultaneously, two apart. His toll arm went up first and he took off a millisecond before mine did and I dropped it at about 2800 rpms. I won't lie: he was probably about 1/2 a car leaving the tolls and I had to run it to redline in 1st, 2nd and 3rd to stay with him.

I started catching and passing him in 4th by maybe a half a car length and by 5th, I could only see the top his hood with a a quick glance to the right. We had to slow down due to upcoming traffic and we didn't wave or any of that stuff at the end. I think that with a better launch and not having a full tank of gas, I might have shown a little stronger but who knows. I have no idea if he was stock or if its the new 350Z with 295hp/new cams, but I went pretty hard and I didn't blow his doors off. I think if we had another half mile I would have opened a gap on him though.....

stupid asswipe. the kills section almost always involves a straight line run. personally, i dont know a single person who calls another one to "race in the turns". kills are usually spntaneous stoplight or roll-on races. besides where the hell can you find a sufficient series of turns where there are no stoplights. fag.

Yeah I know. I think at first, just by how he was trying to have me hit it first, he thought he would spank me no problem. Then the next time, it was just hard, because our windows were both up, and a night. It wasn't real bad, but never a "perfect" situation. Was enjoyable though. My mods don't do much. I could tell it revved a bit quicker and a bit more throttle response. But not a real major difference that I could feel in the butt dyno.

But thanks. Also I agree with LeMansGTS and Tom. The "he woudl've had him in the twisties" is 95% sarcasm, or at least used light heartedly, because hardly anybody actually races our cars how they are supposed to be driven.

In other words, you don't know how to take the twisties either. That's ok, I understand--you'll get there someday, son. By the way, how long have you and giterdone been sleeping with each other? You're a very supportive lover...he must be proud. See you on the straights!

Wow, looks like comfort just wanted to use internet anonymity to his advantage and pick some bones where there were none...and you would beat an s4 from a roll.

Wow, looks like Smelly Bear can't drive in the turns either--could have something to do with the fact that he doesn't have a car, but by god when he gets one, he'll be killin' all sorts of folks--especially those of us with S4's! Be on the lookout for Smelly Bear when he gets his M Coupe, everyone--he will be a force to be reckoned with on the straights!

I'm glad all the audi boys that hang out here, are not like Comfort. Honestly, isn't it boring to be a troll? I thought that died out, you know, in the early teen years. But I guess some people have nothing better to do in life than try to insult people over the internet. Meh, whatever floats your whistle or toots your boat. :rolleyes

eat a dick cumfort...you must be 15. The only appropriate place to take the twisties is on a track because many road variables can cause an unskillful driver like me to spin out, hit a pothole, or sideswipe another car. I think I speak for most people here, but NOBODY races on road twisties. It has nothing to do with our ability to drive. IT has everyting to do with police, road variables, and unskilled drivers who we may irritate or crash into.

YOU MUST HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE DRIVEN TOO MANY TIMES. Something like that will never happen no matter how much you think it will.
Soon enough your 15 year old ass will be on here trying to buy another car because you spun your ASS 4 into a ditch and bent its frame.

Since you came here to insult I want to indulge you some more. I have an automatic M3. Have fun

Fishey, I didn't realize you were in here too... how many Rennlisters migrate to other car boards, geesh :)

Where are the mods to ban trolls like Comfort?

Good posts in here in the first 2 pages... Cobra guy, way to be honest (many of my domestic-owning friends wouldn't admit losing to a Z).

Ah, yes. Another sucker reeled in by cumfart's adolescent antics. Actually, your point about twisties is well-taken and very responsible. I happen to agree with you on that one--I just hate these stright-line kill stories is all. In the meantime, sounds like your dying to come out of the closet (so much dick talk from you). Anyway, good luck with all that. I believe there are various support groups and message boards out there that can help you along the way.

You must be right, and your analysis of my sexuality and the sexulaity of others is an invaluable contribution to bfc. I wish I was still immature and gave a damn about an adolescent insulting me and other people on a message board, but that was about 5 years ago. The only reason I joined in on your dickswinging competition was to indulge you, so you could make a bigger ass of yourself and get banned. That is almost certain.
You must be very uneducated because you just admitted that twisties racing is stupid and dangerous on public roads, yet your beef with the original poster & me had everything to do with us "not being able to drive, and that maybe one day we can learn how to do this". Can you see how your latter post contradicts your initial argument?

You sir, are a moron.

Well put. I pmed the Mods, just told them to lock the thread. Because well, as you can see, it has gone just a wee bit off track. What they do beyond that, is up to them. But just for the record, I think I'd be able to carry on without Comfort with ease. I wouldn't miss him at all. :)

Hey comfort ... way to kill this thread. This will be locked for sure and you'll probably be banned. Instead of offering insight and having a meaningful discussion you're just being a tool stirring up trouble and breaking every rule on the forum. Very LAME DUDE.:nono ...

Banned? Maybe...

Getting taken "three times til Sunday in the twisties and the straights" by a guy who spends more time jerking off to his mods and posting on car forums than actually driving? Impossible...

Adios, bimmerforums! It's been a pleasure annoying you. I'm off to blow the doors off some Roundel Rump Rangers like M3/4 LIFE!

Wendell Berry said it best:
"As soon as the generals and politicos can predict the motions of your mind, lose it. Leave it as a sign to mark the false trail, the way you didn't go. Be like the fox who makes more tracks than necessary, some in the wrong direction. Practice resurrection."

If you aren't the dictionary definition of "adolescent antics", then I've been reading the wrong dictionaries...

Oh, and don't come to the kills section if you hate straight line kills. Twisty kills don't really exist, because it's too dangerous most of the time. Want twisty kills? Go to the track section of bfc and post your times around buttonwillow. Lets see who gets twisty killed now.

because you supported that troll.
and i would like to see some twisties where its actually safe to race around, and in which the only potential hazard is your driving skill and that of the other driver only. You will only find that on a track.
If you really think public roads dont pose any hazards, such as head on traffic, bad road surface, potholes, bad third party drivers, cops, animals (deer), pedestrians or bikers, let me know...i would love to race there.

These hazards don't exist in racing on the straights? They exist for both straights and twisties. Have you ever been on a Mountain road? Oh yeah, giterdone how is it possible to average 17 posts a day for over a year, that is very sad. You've got to admit that.

How did Dave (oh wait, you haven't been here long enough to know him as that...Silverstreak) average 40 posts a day, while working full time? He worked at home.

I work in an office, in front of a computer. Also, I'm on TDY and am living in a hotel, so there isn't alot to do. So I'm on the computer when I'm away from work also.

How do you have a habit, of just joining and annoying almost everybody from the moment you signed up? :rolleyes

I have a feeling that
after 1st and into 2nd my 328 would be quickly passed.
exactly what happend with me when i raced a modded gcoupe 6spd. we both launched at it was even till he got out of 1st :\ what im wondering is what would happen if it was a slightly modded 350z, would he have taken me sooner?
