Mistermotorist 08-13-2005, 08:40 PM I live in San Francisco and I go to Edge in Dublin. I also like Bavarian Professionals in Berkeley, but they are less "pro-mod" than Edge. I used to go to Phaedrus in my 2002 days and I think that my brother still takes his 528 there. All in all, I like Edge best, but it is about 50 miles from SF. If I had to leave my car overnight, I'd likely go to BavPro, because of the complications involved in the round trip. HAPPY MOTORING! kitM3 08-14-2005, 04:18 AM Damn, arent there any decent places within the city!? I used to go to Phaedrus, but dont like them anymore. Going out of the city just causes complications sfhighroller 08-14-2005, 04:48 AM Go to Artec Motorsports on Alabama, i believe. The owner, Armen, did some work on my last car and he fucking rocked. Great guy, and he knows his stuff about E36 M3's especially. Mistermotorist 08-14-2005, 12:05 PM Well, Bav Pro has a limited number of loaners. I have (for inspection II) dropped my car off at their shop and driven away in the loaner (a 92 525 IIRC), kept it overnight and brought it back the next day to pick my car up. Not too difficult, IMO, but I think that you have to "reserve" a loaner, and I am not certain what the actual policy is. The best thing about Phaedrus is that they sub let space in their basement to Dan Acker, who is a very good auto interior craftsman - he does really excellent upholstery work. You are better off going to the dealership. They are just plain crooks. They knowingly lie to thier customers, and replace worn parts with used and say they put new ones on. They screwed a friend of mine over and she WAY over paid for a tranny service. Go to Edge, Erik and Gordon are great people and they know thier stuff. If in San Carlos, German Auto Werks...Good friend's shop. Ask for Brian. kitM3 08-17-2005, 01:50 AM Ok went by Artec Motorsports and didnt like the ghetto setup and location. Reminds me of my College days where friends just worked in shops and fixed cars. kitM3 08-17-2005, 01:51 AM I hate Phaderus. You are better off going to the dealership. They are just plain crooks. Yeah I feel like I've been screwed over by them a few times. |
