I was on the Grape Vine coming from Bakersfield and saw a 328 (of all things) with cleared corners, exhaust, and tinted windows pulled over on the side of the road with his hood up and a cop inspecting it.
Just a heads up.

maybe it belonged to a hot blonde, and the car was overheating and the cop was being helpful? :dunno

I don't understand how tinted windows indicate modification? Exhaust thats legal unless it was blaringly loud. Clear corners? You can buy em at the dealer! wtf.

So because he was looking under the hood inspecting, that is the sole reason why he got pulled over?
And I didn't know this was new. I've been pulled over a couple times before JUST for a loud exhaust or because it was thought the group I was with was racing. The first time ticketed for having an intake, the second time let go. The cop just looked at our addresses on our licenses and threatened us to never come back "to his neighborhood"(north county). He also stated that he can "cite us for numerous violations" just by looking at the cars.

Thats why i drive the 2 cars that never get pullered over

1. Mustangs- They are american cars and cops love america. They can be loud as shit and u wont get bugged because cops think V8's are loud. when i got pulled over for speeding he said "Your exaust i can hear from a mile away...sounds good"

2. BMW- Pure Class. What kinda cop is gonna bug a bimmer. They dont stick cause they are so classy.

.....dont drive rice and your cool.

and fart cans are a NO NO :mad

i saw an oc sheriff in stanton pull over a CRX on the way to work today, before that he was following me for a good 1/4 mile until he heard the fart can exhaust coming from the CRX, haha, just too funny. just minding my own business and I didnt get caught for having intake, thus far I have been very lucky.

BMW = pure class? Hmm, interesting. Maybe your car is stock and that's why you don't get harassed? :dunno

I think what you experience is an anomally--all the moostang drivers I'm friends with get the most hassling from the fuzz, and I'd think a cop would be predisposed to hassle a kid in a shiny BMW more then a run down jallopy--

I know I don't get many allowances from the cops, and I'm as sweet as honey to them--maybe its the beard. ;) I know it doesn't do me any good in airports--

Here is the cost-effective solution to all your intake concerns. (well, at least more cost effective than Dinan).

I know someone who got pulled over for exhaust. Not because it was loud, but because it was shiney. Got a ticket for illegal exhaust.

No one is going to give you a ticket for your intake... your car is stock. Now for your crazy driving... that might give you a ticket regardless. lol

The cop actually took time out of his tax payer supported salary to give someone a ticket cuz his exhaust was shiney?

Cops down in LA look for shiney exhuasts. Shiney exhuasts = aftermarket = more chance of a 'trouble-maker'.

I made a few bucks selling old (<1995) HKS exhuasts to ppl that wanted performance but were looking for a low-profile stock look.

Maybe the tint was illegal or the exhaust was freakishly loud.

actually, thats not true, i know lots of people that I know of that have gotten fix it tickets for having intake, we may consider it to be stock, but cops are compulsive assholes and if they are in a bad mood and see that you have a stock car they will still give a lame reason to give you a ticket. ive gotten pulled over for the lamest reasons, stock exhaust, stock stereo, stock suspension, etc. its all lame.

as for the driving part, I dont drive crazy too much unless there is a swarm of slow drivers (meaning going under the speed limit) and I have to change lanes to get ahead of them, or I also do it on the freeway sometimes, but not too much, I cant afford another ticket.

Our state is broke and the CHP/Other Law Enforcement Nazis want to justify thier overspending. They are really just making the laws more clear to target the guys with Fart Cans and street racers.

It just sucks ball hair that we all get caught in the cross fire.

I got crap from a cop about my angel eyes. I was nice to him and moved on. Here in CA, that CARB sticker is your get outta jail free card. Just try and blend in and the cops will be less likely to bother you...hopefully.

i thought this was only happening in sacramento? I'm considering maybe getting a carb legal intake so I don't have to deal with fix it tickets.

welcome to Burbank where the streets are paved with cop cars. He was in an integ, and about 20 (but white) so there probably was descrimination involved, but yeah. Got pulled over for quiet shiney exhaust and got ticketed for it.

How do you get pulled over for stock suspension? or any suspension at all... they'll ticket you for being too low, but that usually has to do with your front clearance since it makes your headlights look closer to the ground which is teh measurement for how low your car is.

So a CHP office comes into my work today to buy a road bike. When we go outside for a test ride he goes to put stuff in his '97 M3/4 he just bought. We then start to talk about various F/I kits for his M3. I later asked him about this "new" law and he said they always had the power to do that. Basically if you're not getting hassled now you have nothing to worry about. I'm no longer worried so I don't think any of you should be either. Just don't drive like an idiot and you're fine from what he said. An interesting law he did mention though is that it is legal to run nitrous in a Domestic car but not in a Import. He said he'd never check a bimmer for NO2 though.
