i'm not sure if it's something loose i have upfront that's rattling or it's the speakers. didn't sound like the speakers when i tested them out but who knows.

the stock connection is tricky. the 2 wires that are next to each other are opposite polarity so it's not like you take the 2 short ones and plug them into one side and the 2 long ones to the other. very strange.

i'm thinking about putting the stock ones back in to see how it sounds again. i liked it... i liked it a lot. dont' know if i just connected them wrong or what.

They must be hooked up wrong... the MB Quart Q series have sound great in every application I have heard. Are they running off the stock amplifier?

yes they are. all i did was remove the front doors (PIT Eff'in A!), removed the stock speakers, and put the QM's in there. read here and there that i can just do this to improve thes ound but it's done little unless i'm tone deaf (very quite possible... asian mother screams can turn anyone tone deaf). i don't know... it doesn't sound... hard to say, different but it is at the same time. it's not overwhelming like i thought it would be; then again, it's only a set of 5 1/4 up front.

I think it has something to do with being hooked into the stock amplifier. I know exactly what you are talking about. I put a set of MB Quarts (not Q series, though) into my boss' E39 and they sound nothing like they did in the store when they had more power running to them.

the phasing could be off. was the speakers you heard in the store free air, or was it in an enclosure with dynamat. if the latter, then thats how they get you to buy stuff from them.

when you were talking about the connectors 2x2, were you talking about the dual voice coils for the integrated phone system?

Not will ever sound like it does in the store! In order to get the best sound possible, you're going to have to dump the stock system.

But chances are you have them hooked up wrong. Time to take the doors off again... :mad

i didn't get them from a store. it's a hand-me-down which was working just fine.

2x2 what?? for the phone to do what??? eh? not sure where you are getting at. there's a total of 4 connectors to the stock speakers. i connected all 4 to the QM130's which works... just not what i was expecting.

even if they make clear sound, it's hooked up wrong? the bass isn't there like i thought it would be. sounds like stock but now i have rattles somewhere... :(

Ahh, no bass... With components, you need to have a cross over and set the frequencys. It's complicated and I still don't get how to set it all up even though I have a system in my truck.

I believe if you are just running off the stock wiring. the OEM headunit have some type of High pass that runs thru it.
