I have a 2001 330ci (5 speed) with intake and exhaust plus suspension and wheels and am considering trading it in for a new 325i (red on black, sport pack) and was wondering what people who have done the same think?
Am I going to be dissapointed by the power or will it be fun enough? What about fit and finish compared to the E46? How do you like it? What problems or gripes do you have as compared to the E46?
Thanks in advance for your responses.

Actually I was thinking the reverse. I was considering a e90 325i but I think I'd rather have a low mileage E46 330ci loaded for less

Well I haven't bought anything yet. If you like the e90 that much and you want something new try to get a test drive. I've heard good things about them.

FYI BMW says 0 - 60 mph is 6.7 secs for the manual transmission, 7.2 secs for the automatic. Top speed is 130 mph. Power is 215 HP and weight is 3285 lbs. Doing the numbers, about 15.3 lbs/hp.

How does that compare with your car?

2001 330ci, puts out 225 hp and 0-60 in 5.9secs (this is stock).

Personally i love my 330ci and i honestly think it looks way more aggressive that the new e90

Suggest waiting for the coupes to come out, instead of settling for an underpowered sedan

Top speed number is blah. It is electronically limited at that, when I was cruising the abahn a week ago in mine it still had PLENTY of pull 125-135 and still had 2500 RPMs to go. I would say 155 is achivable without a speed limiter. I did the ring in 10min flat on economy tires, I dont think it's underpowered.

There's no comparison between the E46 325 and the E90 325. I just drove the old 325, new 325, and new 330 at the Komen event, and even saddled with the heavy wagon body and AWD the new 325 pulls strongly. In contrast, I forgot to check the badge before driving off in the 325Ci, but could instantly tell it must be a 325.

Comparing the current 330 and 325, there is a difference at high RPM, but it's far smaller than it was. To be expected, since displacement is the same. I think the 325 is under-rated to make the 330 more attractive. For 2007 looks like the 325 will be the 328, with ratings of 230/200. My rear says the 2006 engine is already that strong.

I should add that all Komen cars are now auto because various idiots kept trashing the clutches in every manual car they included in the past. With a manual, the E90 325 would feel even stronger. Underpowered it isn't.
